This series of lessons have been put together with bright upper-primary pupils in mind but in the hands of a skilful teacher could be used with whole classes and younger kids too!

The idea is that each one (in four sections) they will:

-capture students’ excitement with a “wow” moment (either a Maths-based trick or engaging activity)

-explore “how” the trick works (get students thinking about the Maths involved)

-discover a way these concepts are used “now” (modern-day applications of Maths, particularly in STEM)

-permit noteworthy Mathematicians to “take a bow” (as students learn a bit about relevant, interesting stories from the history of Maths)

These examples focus on PRIMES, PROOF and POSITION!

Hopefully these ideas will spark a bit of Mathematical excitement, enthusiasm, intrigue and vibrancy into your classroom!
