The PPT begins with a quick-fire paired discussion, which can be followed up with a class discussion on the topic of E-sports and gaming. Is it a legitimate sport?
A model paragraph containing AFOREST techniques is included with linked tasks that will help students to finally write an opening to a speech . I usually spend the next lesson reading articles on the topic (and asking students to identify the AFOREST techniques) before students begin to transform their opening into an extended structured speech.
The worksheet has all of the tasks on there making it an easy lesson to just run with. The last PPT slide contains the worksheet and it can be modified if you want to tailor it.
Self-assessment slips allow students to recognise the areas that they should focus on for improvement in their next lesson.
