A descriptive writing lesson taught to a very bright year 7 class but could be easily adapted for all year groups.

The lesson includes a three-way differentiated reading activity as a springboard for students to write their own descriptive piece to create tension. Success criteria, redrafting opportunities and musical chair peer assessment all feature in this lesson which was graded outstanding in a recent observation.

Three reading extracts have been included.
