Year 2 Challenge Task Cards (Brain Boosters!)

Keep your Y2 children engaged with these quick, purposeful challenge cards. These are designed for children who have finished their work and need 5 minutes to complete an on-task, independent activity. These could also be used as whole-class morning starters or as an intervention.

This pack includes 32 challenge cards:
-8 maths challenges covering many curriculum objectives
-8 English challenges covering many curriculum objectives
-8 science challenges covering many curriculum objectives
-8 creative challenges (including drawing, spelling, building with lego and more)

Children will need a whiteboard, notebook or piece of paper to jot down workings out and explain/prove their thinking.

These activities have been designed to:
-Promote independent learning and problem-solving
-Encourage reasoning
-Develop creativity and critical thinking
-Reinforce Y2 NC objectives
-Provide an appropriate level of challenge for confident learners and fast finishers

These cards need minimal teacher preparation and can be used over and over again. Simply print, cut and laminate and allow children to challenge themselves all year round.
