This is a sequence of 6 lessons to aid my Year 6 children develop their knowledge of conjunctions. I taught each lesson for around half an hour and the 'little and often' approach definitely helped their understanding. I've now found my children can confident answer the SATs style questions on conjunctions and they are now actively using a wider range of conjunctions in their writing.

The sequence of lessons are as follows:

Lesson1 : identifying coordinating conjunctions
Lesson2: using coordinating conjunctions
Lesson 3: Identifying subordinating conjunctions
Lesson4: Using subordinating conjunctions
Lesson 5: Identify the difference between a subordinating conjunction and a preposition.
Lesson 6: Consolidation

There is a step by step powerpoint, which takes you through each lesson. On the powerpoint, there are lots of mini activities for the children to do alongside lots of exciting clipart to keep the children interested.

The resources are all attached. I have also rewritten some SATs questions so the children can have extra practice.
