This end-of-topic test follows the Oak KS3 Science curriculum and is designed to assess the key knowledge, vocabulary and misconceptions from the unit.

The test includes around 10 multiple-choice questions, many based on Oak-style checks for understanding and common misconceptions identified on the Oak website. These are followed by short-answer questions covering core concepts, diagrams, data handling and explanations. The assessment finishes with a longer 6-mark question, giving pupils the chance to link ideas together in an extended response.

The test is designed to be accessible and confidence-building without reducing challenge. Early questions help pupils experience success, while later questions provide greater challenge and help differentiate between pupils.

A clear, student-friendly mark scheme is included to support marking, feedback and corrections.

A matching mirror test / re-test is also available separately. It follows the same question numbering and mark structure, but uses different questions to test the same understanding, making it useful for targeted re-teaching and follow-up after feedback.
