I used this at the start of my non-fiction unit on Animal Information Texts. I wanted to teach the children the difference in tone and content of information texts vs fiction texts. In our first lesson, we looked at a range of animal information texts. This was the 2nd lesson in my series where I wanted children to identify the difference between fact and fiction.

This resource include SMART notebook slides used to introduce the idea including an activity where children moved from one side of the room to the other to identify the sentence types. There is then a sorting activity including a widget adapted worksheet for lower readers. I colour coded some letters in line with phonics scheme.
