Year 2 Reading Comprehension - World Teachers' Day

Celebrate the people who help us learn!

This World Teachers’ Day comprehension pack invites children to explore why teachers are so important, while building essential reading skills along the way.

The resource includes three clearly differentiated texts (Starter, Standard, Stretch). Each level supports progression, from simple retrieval in the Starter text to more complex skills such as vocabulary in context, inference, and even author’s intent in the Stretch version.

Across all levels, children learn the same core facts: teachers help children learn, they work in schools using books, pens, and boards, World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th October each year, people around the world say thank you to teachers on this day, and it is a time to value and appreciate the work teachers do.
