Year 4 Reading Comprehension - World Teachers' Day

Why do we celebrate teachers? This pack introduces students to World Teachers’ Day and helps them explore why teachers are valued across the world!

The resource includes three clearly differentiated texts designed to meet the needs of every learner. Skills progress from simple retrieval at Starter, through vocabulary and inference at Standard, to comparison and author’s intent at Stretch.

Across all levels, students discover the same key facts. World Teachers’ Day is marked on the 5th of October each year. It was created to celebrate and thank teachers for their important role in education. Teachers guide learning, build confidence, and shape student’s futures. The day is observed in many countries, often with events, cards, or gestures of appreciation. Its purpose is to show respect for education and the people who provide it.
