Here is a topic topic plan with a range of ideas which can be used with KS2. This has been tried and tested as one of the most successful topics I've taught in year 5/6!
Included are the following original model texts written by myself which can be used for the Talk for Writing process or however you choose featuring the requirements of the new expected and greater depth standard:
-A balanced arguement on the installation of graffiti wall
- a suspense story set in London during the early 1900's
-a newspaper report about the Hatton Garden Robbery
- a explanation on the laws of the country
- an example of letter to an MP, complaining about prisoners perks
