This is a game I have used with my energetic class of Year 6 children to aid them with the revision of using apostrophes for contraction and possession. There are 25 questions which I laminated, hole punched and strung around the school to a variety of different objects. Children raced their way around school, finding the questions and looking at what was written on the card. On each card, there is either a sentence or a photograph which uses an apostrophe: some are correctly used but the majority are incorrectly used. The children worked in pairs to find the questions and explain whether they think the apostrophe has been used correctly or incorrectly. The children take around an answer sheet, on which they correct the sentence if they feel it is wrong.
My class LOVED doing this game: it helped their understanding of apostrophes, got them talking and most importantly, it was fun!
