Activities to introduce a unit of work on **poetry for Years 7-8. **
In Task 1 pupils are given the surnames of famous poets and use them to fill the gaps in short statements about the poets. They could use the internet to research a few of the poets and find some pictures to use in the title page they will go on to make later.
In Task 2 pupils revise some poetry terminology (eg. alliteration, onomatopoeia) by matching the terms to the correct definitions and examples.
In Task 3, pupils use information from Tasks 1 & 2 to make a title page to introduce their work on poetry. An example is provided.
