Homer's Odyssey Key Events Revision

Homer's Odyssey Key Events Revision

This resource is a fun game activity to revise the key events of Homer's Odyssey. I have done this with my Year 12s and they really enjoyed it, it create great discussion and also showed them where they need to focus their future revision to fill gaps they had. For each group I ensured the resources were also on their own colour so they no cards got mixed up.

Year 1 proudness assembly

Year 1 proudness assembly

This was an assembly I carried out with my Year 1 class. This was a religious assembly based around the value of being proud. The assembly tells the story of Icarus. I have written the script including different parts and lots of narrators, ideas for songs and also a powerpoint presentation (of pictures) which is referred to in the script and shows when to change the slides. This assembly script can be easily adapted to suit different year groups as well as taking out the religious parts if it's not a religious assembly.

The Acropolis with Google Earth Tours

The Acropolis with Google Earth Tours

Tour The Acropolis of Athens, Greece with Google Earth ToursMake a virtual field trip to one of the world’s most ancient landmarks; the Acropolis. You will be using Google Earth to watch a pre-recorded tour of the four famous structures that sit atop the Acropolis. Learn all about the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheum and the Propylaea. You will also visit four other edifices that have neighbored the Acropolis for millennia: the Theatre of Dionysus, the Odeon Herodes Atticus, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Temple of Hephaestus. The product includes a document of about 55 talking points and interesting facts about the ancient Greek site and it’s buildings. The tour is also accompanied by a PDF file that describes what you are seeing based on the corresponding minutes in the video. This is so you can pause the tour at the given time stamp and let the class know what they are looking at. For example the document says at, “3:28 – 3:41 – The camera looks due West. The old museum is in the foreground. If you look to the right of the museum a little bit you can make out a flag rising up from the edge of the Acropolis. It is said that when the Nazis took over Athens during WWII, they ordered a Greek soldier who was guarding the flag to take it down. He took it down, wrapped himself in the flag, and jumped over the side of the precipice to his death in a personal protest.”The tour begins with a view of Europe from outer space. You are then zoomed in to the site’s locations to see it from a variety of different viewpoints. The angles are chosen so the students can get a good idea of the four structures’ locations, as well as, their physical relationships to each other in their setting. Finally, you are taken back out to a long shot of Europe.* Your computer must have Google Earth to watch these tours.Feel free to visit some other famous landmarks in North America.1. The Golden Gate Bridge (3:29)2. Chichen Itza (5:38)3. Niagara Falls (2:10)4. Panama Canal (3:02)5. Statue of Liberty (2:07)6. MESSALINA FLASHCARDS WITH DEFINITIONS. WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542

MESSALINA FLASHCARDS WITH DEFINITIONS. WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542

There are 10 packs of flashcards one for each paragraph of the prescribed text. I have made flashcards for every single word in the text. This is perfect for ensuring that you or your class know all the latin, so the literature test runs as smoothly as possible. Knowing the latin is essential before the exam and you will not have the time to look up the translations and for the majority of the trickier words, WJCE does not give the translations in the exam. All of the latin words I have included are in their conjugated form and appear like they do on the actual test so no brain power is needed when doing the exam. It is an extremely value resource and will certainly save time and boost your grade.

Ancient Roman food and drink

This powerpoint can be used to teach a lesson about Ancient Roman food and drink. The first activity requires accompanying pictures of the food in the columns. The map explains where the food that the food the Romans did not know about comes either from countries that the Romans did not conquer or a time period after the Romans. The Roman dinner party invitation activity should be accompanied by the Cambridge Latin Course worksheet on Roman dinner-parties. This lesson can be adapted for KS2 pupils and also for Year 9 or pupils that require more challenging work.

Timeline Ancient Greece Poster

Timeline Ancient Greece Poster

This timeline shows the history of the Ancient Greek Civilisation, divided into the most common periods. Above the timeline you will find a short description of the highlights of each period in the same colour as that period on the timeline. Below the timeline, important events are added in the colours of each period. The specific events that marked the transitions between the different periods are added with thicker borders and fading colours.I refer to this poster almost every lesson when I'm teaching Greek or ancient history! It is very useful to allow the students to keep an overview in their mind when we're talking about a specific historical event or person. My students have gotten so used to my poster that they for example say that Plato of course lived in the "yellow"; period, that Homer's texts are from the "blue" period and that the story of Theseus and the Minotaur is situated in the "pink" period. The file is large and detailed enough to print on an A1 format as a poster. I have a Dutch version available too.
