In this lesson, students learn about the key features of Anglican churches. Some of the features covered include: the font, the altar, the pulpit, the lecturn, the nave, the crucifix and stained glass windows. Students learn about the key purpose of the features, and where they can be found in the church. Students also begin to comprehend what the features symbolise. This resource pack contains a comprehensive 16-slide Powerpoint, alongside an eye-catching worksheet. Two extension activities are provided in order to challenge higher ability learners. In the past, I have used this lesson with children from across Key Stage 2 - the key learning is aligned with NC expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. All images are licensed for commercial use, and are cited on the final slide.

This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. It is all about castles! The booklet is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper and includes 3 differentiated levels. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘how,’ ‘who’ and ‘why’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets, with four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 3-4 questions per page. Answers are also included. All of the PDF booklets are in the zip file. There is a colour and black & white version for each level.

Full project booklet to accompany a construction project to make Tudor houses. The comprehensive booklet takes the children through the design process. Projects asks the children to make wooden Tudor houses. We made ours by making the timber frames and then used thin card and paper mache to replicate the wattle and daub, so we made the houses in the same way the Tudors would. The booklet includes a comprehension about Tudor houses. Research pages about models of Tudor houses, 45 and 90 degree corners, joining wood, design brief, concept and final designs, safety, evaluation during and after making and more! I have collected together 30 wonderful photos of churches from around the world for you to share with your class. This pack contains a 31 Teaching Activity Teacher Guide. These activities are quick and fun to do and will improve both your students' memory and vocabulary skills. You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different materials being used in each of photos. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about Church buildings from around the world. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different types of churches. The students can then discuss why people might have built them. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

Pupils begin by researching insulation or watching a small video (plenty on Youtube), the second task is to discuss way in which a house can lose heat (open windows, damage and leading to poor insulation), the main task is list ideas to reduce heat loss, looking at main areas of the house where heat is lost. The plenary allowed pupils to discuss houses of the future and how they need to be built to reduce heat loss. The lesson could also be guided to show eco friendly ideas.

This challenge is fantastic for not only using their problem solving skills, but their maths skills as well. This can be split into more than one lesson, with the planning element first and then the build challenge. It’s great for promoting team work and you can differentiate the groups so they can support each other.

When I use this resource I hide the slides that I don’t need and only use the parts that I want to use for a given lesson. Create your very own Lowry style paintings in KS2 digitally. Copy and paste buildings that have been individually recreated in the Lowry style to create your city scene. Then populate your city with Lowry people. Teach yourself and your children more about layers and perspective by using PowerPoint's send backwards/forwards and resize tools. Finally, you can print out your paintings straight from this PowerPoint file on any size up to and including A3. A perfect activity to group model on the interactive whiteboard and then to be used on laptops/desktops as an individual digital art activity.

This is a great introduction to the life of the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí and his masterwork La sagrada familia. This enormous cathedral is located in Barcelona and is a UNESCO heritage site. Reading includes 8 short answer reading incomprehension questions. Answer key included. I've used this in line with Y4 Narrative Unit for Issues and Dilemmas to encoruage the planning and refining aspect of story writing.

I made this presentation while on teaaching practice for a mixed year 1/2 class. The children responded really well to it. I made it interactive by including a few questions which i got the children to dicuss with their talk partners before taking feedback. Hope you find it useful.
