Pupils will discuss and justify reasons for succession with regards to pop culture (pop icons have been given as examples based on popularity, success and family ties).
This can be related to a main body of content explaining the similar types of discussions Muslims had when discussing the successor of the Muhammad.

The starter compares Jesus to Superman in an attempt to get pupils to see Jesus in a more modern light, in hope that they will be more engaged throughout the rest of the lesson when engaging in more specific content.

Pupils will look at examples of lucky/coincidental events and discuss Allah’s influence and knowledge of the events.
