I am a head of English who has been teaching for 9 years in middle school and Primary. For the last 5 years, I have also been a year 5 and year 3 class teacher. I have been a TES contributor for a while, with free and premium resources and I always upload resources that I have used successfully in my own teaching. I hope you might find them useful too!

I made this document to support year 3 teachers to plan focused, purposeful learning challenges for teaching and assessing Writing in their English lessons. It can be used as a long term plan as it shows all of the end of year expectations for Composition, SPAG and handwriting that pupils need to work towards achieving during the year.
The document could also be used as a target sheet for pupils to stick into their books in order to track their progress in writing. The columns on the right can be used by teachers to record 3 dates on which the objectives have been achieved.
I made this document to support year 4 teachers to plan focused, purposeful learning challenges for teaching and assessing Writing in their English lessons.
I made this document to support year 2 teachers to plan focused, purposeful learning challenges for teaching and assessing Writing in their English lessons.
I made this document to support year 5 teachers to plan focused, purposeful learning challenges for teaching and assessing Writing in their English lessons.
These slides are task cards to brief and instruct groups to design and market a new chocolate product for a fictional company: Thornbury's. Pupils will need to work together to create the packaging for their product, a promotional billboard advert and a persuasive press release. They also need to plan a professional presentation of their ideas. I gave groups a week to prepare and their results were fantastic! They were fully engaged and their presentations were very impressive: some groups arrived with leaflets and stickers to give out, boxes for their products (exhibiting their Maths skills) and even samples to taste! I used this with year 7 pupils, but it would be fantastic revision of non- fiction text types for year 5 and 6 too!
This is a differentiated measuring activity which I used for my mixed ability year 5 class, but could be adapted for any KS2 Maths group. I used it as part of World Book Day and it gave pupils a practical opportunity to practice their measuring and converting skills! A range of equipment (ingredients!) is needed, but it is worth it!
LA = Orange (following instructions and reading scales to measure)
MA = Yellow/ Purple (pupils also need their addition, subtraction and halving skills)
HA = Blue/ Green (pupils also need to convert between ML and L)
This bundle includes blank templates for planning Literacy and Guided Reading, display posters and cards for the classroom (including resources such as class rules and rewards, Literacy posters, seating plans) and checklists for a new class that can be adapted for each half term. I hope this will be a great starting point for any NQT or new teacher!
This powerpoint includes instructions and activities to develop pupil's understanding of character and talking, acting and writing in role. I have used them with Robin Hood and Alice in Wonderland (as well as the poem of The Highwayman), but they could be used with any narrative text you are studying. The powerpoint includes information about freeze frames, thought tracking and discussion activities and I have loved hearing the children's ideas - especially when they really get into their roles! I have found ideas are best once the children are really into the story and the activities have been brilliant to build up their ideas for writing first person accounts, diaries and narratives.
I made this document to support year 6 teachers to plan focused, purposeful learning challenges for teaching and assessing Writing in their English lessons.
I used this carousel of writing activities using conjunctions as a revision exercise for my year 6 class, but it could be used to introduce conjunctions to any KS2 class. Every pupil tried the 3 activities, but It could also be used as a differentiated writing activity with 3 levels of difficulty.
This WWII- related unit is based around a scenario in which a V.C medal has been stolen from the Imperial War Museum. Pupils become detectives in order to investigate the case (studying suspect photos, analysing evidence pictures and interviewing staff in role) and write newspaper articles about their suspicions.
I used these activities, task cards and worksheets with my Lower ability Maths class. They focus on measuring, comparing measures and word problems involving measures. The last few slides (the grids) are a set of cards with a range of revision questions about measurement.
This PowerPoint contains game boards for Connect 4. Each round - narrative (Peter Pan), Creation myths and Classical poetry (The Highwayman) contains similes, metaphors, alliteration and personification for pupils to identify and cover with the cards as they attempt to make lines of four before their opposing team. I have used the games on the whiteboard, with children moving the cards across and also as board games with laminated cards for starters and guided reading activities.
I have been building up this Powerpoint of resources while teaching spellings with my HA year 3 English class this year, but the resources can also be adapted for any year groups in KS2 of LA groups in KS3. It includes editable spelling cards that I have been using to record pupil's weekly spellings so that they can take them home to revise for our tests. The blank rows at the bottom have then been used for pupils to record any words they have been getting wrong in their own writing.
The Powerpoint also includes spelling activities that we have been using, including quizzes, card sorts, domino cards and dictionary activities, to support children with their revision of key spelling rules and words.
I have used these resources while following the No Nonsense Spelling scheme, but the learning challenges and activities can be used without it as they also link with the National Curriculum spelling focus for year 3.
This Powerpoint includes step by step learning challenges and task cards to support children's understanding of the properties of 2D and 3D shapes. Tasks include games, drawing activities, practical shape investigations and challenges. Slides can be scaled down to A5 (or printed 2 to a page) and then stuck into children's Maths books to give them clear instructions.
I used these resources to support and challenge my MA/LA Year 5 Maths class, but they could be used or adapted for any Key Stage 2 Maths group.
This bundle includes display posters and cards for the classroom (including resources such as class rules and rewards, Literacy posters, seating plans), checklists for a new class that can be adapted for each half term, guided reading posters (that can also be used as group discussion cards) and a pack of spelling activities which I have used for year 5, but can be used for any KS2 group.
This is a bundle of games and activities to support children to develop their confidence with SPAG vocabulary and skills. I hope they will be a fun way for children to practice their spellings and build key elements of grammar into their writing.
This resource includes checklists for Literacy/ topic homework, Maths homework, PE kits and weekly reading. My TA and I will be using them this year to keep records for our new class. They are editable and can be adapted for any class/ year group/ checklist.
I made and used this ppt as an introduction to our year 5 topic on Mexico and the Aztecs, but it could be used with any KS2 class. The first few slides were used to elicit children's ideas and questions, and the others are a domino game, for pupils to work together to learn facts about Mexico.
