Lesson 7 in the year 7 forces topic looking at forces in sports. Students use their learning from the rest of the forces topic to research and present their findings on forces in a sport of their choice. Students will need access to iPads or computers.

Lesson 6 in the year 7 forces topic looking at pressure. Students learn to calculate pressure and identify common uses of high and low pressure as well as examples of gas, liquid and surface pressures. Ppt includes activity where students can calculate the pressure they exert on the floor.

Lesson 4 and 5 in year 7 forces topic investigating friction. There are two lessons, the first with a practical investigating the effect of changing mass on the amount of force needed to overcome friction and move a block. The second lesson has students draw a graph of their results and complete a write up of their experiment. There is also a starter worksheet where students decide whether each of the factors on the board either increase or decrease drag forces and a question worksheet to consolidate learning that could be done at the end of the lesson or given as homework.

Lesson 3a and 3b in year 7 forces topic looking at drag forces. There are two lessons, the first with a practical investigating air resistance and the second investigating drag in liquids.

Lesson 2 in year 7 forces topic looking at balancing forces. Students learn how to identify whether two or more forces are balanced or unbalanced as well as how to calculate the resultant force on an object. Students will also discuss how balanced or unbalanced forces affect an object’s motion. Students learn how to identify the forces around them as well as categorise them as either contact or non-contact forces. They will also learn how forces always come in pairs (action and reaction) and to label forces on free-body diagrams. There is a worksheet to practise labelling forces differentiated for low, middle and high ability. Lesson 7 in year 7 cells topic looking at how structures come together from the sub-cellular level to form an entire organism. Students identify organs from different organ systems of the human body, then focus on the digestive system. There are info cards on the different parts of the digestive system to put around the room as well as a premade template for students to complete using this information (both included in ppt). Also attached is a worksheet for students to label on the key parts of the digestive system.

Lesson 6 in year 7 cells topic looking at how and why cells divide. Students learn about the two forms of cell division, what each is for, where each occurs inthe body and why they need to be different. Ppt includes links to videos you may wish to use to go into more detail but they are geared to a slightly higher level than KS3.

Lesson 5 in year 7 cells topic looking at specialised cells. Students build on their learning of standard cell features to think about how cells have different specialisations for different functions. Lesson ppt includes a worksheet for students to complete using information slides which you can put around the classroom.

Lesson 4 in year 7 cells topic using microscope skills to look at cheek cells from swabs and calculating magnification. Students use their microscope skills learnt in previous lesson to prepare and observe a specimen of their own cheek cells. They will also learn how to calculate magnification of specimens they view as well as the actual size of cell images based on magnification factor and measurement of the image. Method for practical is included in the ppt and there is a corresponding worksheet on magnification calculations. Lesson 3 in year 7 cells topic looking at the microscope - its discovery and the main functional parts. Students learn how to use a microscope, why we need them and how to prepare a slide to observe under a microscope. They will also learn how to compare a labelled image of a cell to their own specimen and identify main cell features. Method for practical is included. Lesson ppt includes diagram for students to label and wordfill on preparing a microscope slide (both ready to print).

Lesson 1 in year 7 cells topic looking at the 7 life processes and basic animal cell structures. Students learn how to distinguish whether an object should be classed as living or non-living based on information they are given and their own knowledge. There is plenty of opportunity for discussion and also some harder examples to stretch higher students such as the classification of viruses. It contains all equations with each value, symbol, unit and unit symbol outlined plus a column stating whether students need to learn it or if they are given it in the exams. The document is split with one topic per tab. Lines are shaded pale grey if that value has already come up earlier in the course so that students can build up a picture of familiarity as they go through.
