This Teach, Practise, Extend PowerPoint resource focuses on the use of hyphens. In total there are three slides: Slide 1 (teach) - Definition and explanation of the three uses of a hyphen with examples. Slide 2 (practise) - Children are given 7 sentences are asked to add in the missing hyphen. Slide 3 (extend) - Children are given a 10 compound words (containing a hyphen) and are asked to put them into sentences of their own. The resource is colourfully designed and can clearly be seen from a distance making it ideal to display on the Interactive Whiteboard. It is also extremely good value for money, providing you with a straightforward and highly effective teaching resource. Great for a lesson starter, revision or early morning activity! This Teach, Practise, Extend PowerPoint resource focuses on adding and subtracting fractions when the denominator is different and is linked to the Year 6 National Curriculum. In total there are thirteen slides: Slides 1, 2, 3 and 5, 6, 7 (teach) - Slide 1 shows children how easy it is to add fractions when the denominator is the same. Slide 2 shows how to simplify and answer when adding. Slides 3 shows the same as above but when subtracting fractions. Slides 5, 6 and 7 show how to add and subtract fractions when the denominator is different. Examples are given. Slide 4 and 8 (practise) - Slide 4 allows children to practise adding and subtracting fractions when the denominator is the same. Slide 8 asks children to add and subtract fractions of a different denominator. Answers are provided. Slides 9 - 13 (extend) - On slide 9 children are asked to use the above skills to solve word problems. Slides 10 - 13 give the answers with explanations given. In total there are eight slides: Slides 1/2/4/6 (teach) - Detailed visual teaching points showing what an equivalent fraction is and how to find them. On slide 4 and 6 it shows how to multiply and divide the numerator and denominator to find an equivalent fraction. Slide 3/5/7 (practise) - Children need to find the equivalent fractions firstly using diagrams and then without. These A4 differentiated word vocabulary mats are an essential tool for any child and would be perfect laminated and stored in boxes in the middle of the table. The mat focuses on writing a character description. The mat gives a wide range of vocabulary including words to describe how a characters look, what they wear and their personality. There are also words and phrases to describe where the character may live and their age and gender. Furthermore there are lists of prepositions, adverbs, adjectives and conjunctions which could be included in a description. Finally there is also a model example of a character description that the children can use to uplevel or improve their own piece of writing. The attached images show each mat but each pack includes: Mat 1 for the less able pupils (one A4 sheet) Mat 2 for the middle ability pupils (one A4 sheet) Mat 3 for higher ability pupils (one A4 sheet) Mats 4 - example of character description (could be laminated back to back with one of the above mats) The resource is colourfully designed with the colours linked to the language through colour system.
