Life after death bundle!

3 Resources
There are three fantastic resources that can span one or two lessons in a life after death scheme of work. One is an introduction to Life after Death and the other is about Muslim and Hindu beliefs about life after death.
Pacifism

Pacifism

(2)
This lesson focuses on the different beliefs and examples of pacifism. It follows my other lesson on Violence and Peace and comes with a worksheet and task which should bring excellent learning. It also has a meditation exercise that can be used to the last task of the PPT. This is a really good task which the pupils engage with and always walk out with a smile!

This lesson is focused on the issue of peace and can be taught alongside my other lesson on violence. It includes a PPT which is an outline of the creative learning that should take place from the students.

Violence and Evil lesson

This lesson is designed for a short look at the concept of violence and can be used alongside my other lesson on 'what makes people go wrong?'. This has been a helpful lesson over the years and stimulates creative ideas from pupils as it is aimed for this function.

What makes people go wrong? How good people turn evil

This lesson was designed as a lesson to fit into an evil and suffering scheme of work, but I have also used it with peace and violence as well as a stand alone lesson and one for psychology or PSHE. Contained in this resource is a PPT to use alongside the TED talk by Philip Zimbardo (see below). Also, 2 worksheets that can be used for class or homework. I normally generate specific questions in relation to the clip, which helps pupils understand the point he is making (that good people turn to bad, not that they are bad to begin with). https://www.ted.com/talks/philip_zimbardo_on_the_psychology_of_evil
Life after death - Hindu and Muslim religious views lesson

Life after death - Hindu and Muslim religious views lesson

(0)
This lesson was designed as a one stop, task driven lesson. See below for a brief plan of the lesson. The resources include a PPT as well as Hindu and Muslim information sheet. The PPT should be worked through, but the main task is the pupils will be given a set of information and will have to work through the reading and highlight important points. They will note these down and teach them to others on the table. The teacher will then go over this at the end to assess learning.

Life after death - The boy who lived before

This worksheet was created to accompany a YouTube clip called 'the boy who lived before'. This clip is found below and tells the story of a boy in Scotland who believes he can remember his past life. The pupils always compelled by this lesson and the worksheet enables excellent structure for the lesson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wh0OsVtdeE
Judaism in the ancient Middle East

Judaism in the ancient Middle East

This lesson can be stand alone or can exist is a scheme of work on Judaism or any focus on the ancient middle east. The PPT is simple and focuses on the map surrounding the Genesis story. It also contains a focus on some polytheistic religions which existed at the time of the inception of Judaism. The worksheet is detailed and focuses on what it meant to be a member of Israel in the ancient days.

Introduction to Judaism

This is a resource which includes a: - PPT (complete with learning objective) - Information worksheet - Homework This serves as a good first lesson for KS3 classes on Judaism and will feature before any further learning.
Natural Moral Law theory - Ethics

Natural Moral Law theory - Ethics

(0)
This is a PPT which includes a comprehensive inclusion of every part of the Natural Law Theory that would be needed to be taught up to A Level. It has been used with legacy and new examination specifications. The PPT includes 3 separate learning objectives which can be used in 2 or 3 different lessons if needed: 1. To explain Natural Moral Law as a theory of ethics 2. To analyse the usefulness of NML in the modern day context of ethical behaviour 3. To evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of Natural Moral Law This lesson has been graded outstanding.
The intro to Ethical theory (Explained by the ill fated legend of Abi and Joe)

The intro to Ethical theory (Explained by the ill fated legend of Abi and Joe)

(0)
This incredibly well used resource is a fantastic way for budding ethicists to understand the major factors underpinning ethical theory. The PPT tells the story of Abi and Joe (in an interactive manner!). Abi, driven by acts surrounding motive and not rule or consequence ends up falling into trouble and other characters act in seemingly contentious ways because of their focus of moral thinking. In the time I have been teaching this, teachers, parents and pupils have commented on it's clarity and usefulness. I hope you agree!

Utlilitarianism: application of Bentham's Hedonic Calculus

(0)
It is sometimes hard to assess the success of the hedonic calculus. For years my colleagues and I found it hard to get pupils to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of the hedonic calculus. This resource aims to change this. Pupils are given the worksheet in order to see how simple, yet how time consuming and contradictory this theory is. It works a treat - especially for homework. Great for A02 focus.
PPT on homosexuality
TeacherofThoughtTeacherofThought

PPT on homosexuality

(0)
This is a lesson on homosexuality that was designed for Y11, but can be used for A level. The provocative images on the front are meant to set the scene for the focus of the lesson: Should homosexuality be an ethical issue or not? I also discuss the media's role in this discussion with use of the images.
