A fun, engaging week of lessons based on writing a persuasive leaflet to encourage people to come Visit Qatar (the home of the World Cup 2022). This resource includes: A detailed, differentiated lesson plan. Pictures to stick on the leaflets Information sheets for children to research and make notes Planning activities Powerpoints Sample leaflet to annotate and recognise the features Comprehension also for one day. A sample of my kids writing to show you WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) Children produced some fantastic leaflets (see preview) using lots of taught persuasive techniques to persuade the reader to visit Qatar. It engaged both boys and girls and we did it in pairs. Very enjoyable :)

A wonderful week of Literacy lessons planned and resourced here for Year 4 Persuasive Writing. This is week 1 of persuasive writing unit which I did last year and have made some improvements. It immerses children in persuasive language and techniques to persuade their reader. These lessons are based around 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and by the end of the week, children will create their own advertisement for a new chocolate product. Children are taught to use: *exaggeration *word-play *snappy slogans *tempting benefits *eye-catching illustrations and writing This resource package comes with a wealth of resources to ensure that all children understand and utilize the persuasive techniques needed to sell a product. (On the plus side, it's about a chocolate product, which keeps it interesting for them). Prepositions are taught as a starter also to incorporate SPAG into the week of Literacy. This resource is a fun way to encourage children to read the high frequency words in Reception. They will need to be cut out, with the elephant stuck to the back of the word and then laminated. Once they're done once, you'll have them forever. It consists of a selection of the high frequency words at Reception level, with a colourful background to keep them interested. You will need to print two copies of this resource in order to play the game. I played it in groups of 4: *Give each child in the group an even amount of cards. *Instruct them to leave them all in front of them (elephant facing up). *The first child must place their first card down, sound it out/read it. *The next child repeats etc until there is two of the same words placed one after the other. *They all must race to say SNAP if two cards sitting on top of each other are the same word. *The person to say it first, gets all of the cards in the pile and they begin again. This resource can be used as an extension activity for early finishers, or as a revision tool at the end of the year, or even as your weekly game to expose children to these words more frequently. This resource is a fun way to encourage children to practice their phonics or the upcoming phonics screening. They will need to be cut out, with the elephant stuck to the back of the word and then laminated. Once they're done once, you'll have them forever. It consists of a selection of a selection of real and pseudo words, with a colourful background to keep them interested. You will need to print two copies of this resource in order to play the game. A colourful, helpful resource which helps chlildren write the ee sound correctly. I have used lines and dots to indicate a one letter one sound and a digraph. Children will end the activity by attempting to write their own sentence using the ee sound. Lines are provided for children to write on. I put alot of time and effort into my lessons. ***THE SPOOKY, MYSTERIOUS SANTA CLAUSE*** I don't know about you, but I struggle to think of things to keep the children busy on the last week of term. So I can up with this this week to try and bring some interesting writing together. It's basically suspense and mystery planning based on creating a spooky Santa Clause. A 4 day series of lessons on suspense and mystery. These lessons allow children to write in a suspense style by using ellipses, short sentences and making the reader think that there is something hidden. These lessons involve video clips and setting a spooky scene my turning off the lights during the reading of these paragraphs. A powerpoint, plan and resources are included.

This is a bundle of my comprehensions together at a reduced price to have your lessons covered for a few weeks. They include: *A comprehension on Qatar This comprehension is based on Qatar as a country and the processes they've put in place in order to host the World Cup 2022. It provides children with an interesting background knowledge of the country while testing their comprehension skills simultaneously. This game involves asking the children to roll a dice and read the sound that their counter lands on. When they read the sound, they must think of a word that this sound is in. I played it in mixed ability pairs, the low ability children just had to try and read the sound. It was a lot of fun and they loved it. It contains diagraphs, triagraphs, split diiagraphs and single sound letters for a thorough revision.

I wrote a short piece about a Middle Eastern boy joining a British School and decided to make it into a Year 6 SATS sample paper. The questions are structured exactly like the SATS exams and children can use them as revision in the weeks/months coming up to the SATS exams. I have uploaded it as a PDF and also a word document. Also, I’ve separated the reading material and the questions in two different documents if required. Can be used with year 5s also to get them into the SATS style of questioning. So if you are viewing this resource, you NEED to check out my other product on myths first as this is a follow on from it. Traditional Tales and Myths- Understanding the features Children cannot and should not be writing their own myth without first of all familiarising themselves with the text type. Having completed that step, they can then begin to think about planning their very own myth. This resource includes: *3 day detailed lesson plan. *Toolkit template for children to write down the features and necessary things needed in order to write a successful myth. *Myth adaption sheet for drawing their new idea to change the myth. *Pictures to caption- this confirms children’s ability to order the story. *Theseus and the Minotaur text for reference. *Vocab cards for tricky words/pictorial representation. *Drama ideas: such as text tennis, text mapping etc. The idea behind this week of teaching is that children are reciting/acting out the text each day, confirming their understanding of the story structure/sentence structure orally. Once children can do this, they will be able to write their very own version. They are encouraged this week to change one part of the myth in order to write their very own myth. For example: instead of Theseus and the Minotaur, it could be Theseus and the Lemontaur, who is a half lemon, half horse who throws lemons at Theseus? By the end of these lessons, children should be able to write their very own adaptation to the myth: Theseus and the Minotaur. As last week was Book Week, I planned a week’s worth of lessons based around the book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. Each day, we read a chapter of the story and then engage in lessons based on what we’ve read. As you can see from the cover image, this involves lots of chocolate!! The children absolutely adored these lessons and were so engaged in the process of melting chocolate. They needed to see which chocolate would be the best to build the Indian Prince’s palace out of by melting different types of chocolate. HINT: flakes don’t melt! This resource is made with a Harry Potter theme. Children are introduced to the term pronouns through a short Harry Potter clip where they can hear how badly pronouns are needed in spoken language as well as written. I have made differentiated work resources for the children to use for low ability, middle ability and high abililty- all still based on the Harry Potter Theme. Children are encouraged to work in groups throughout this lesson to try and practice using pronouns on whiteboards, before their activity. Using a Harry Potter theme worked well in my class as it fun, colourful and different from their normal SPAG lessons, which can sometimes be boring. I have included a powerpoint, worsheets and a detailed plan with this package.

A weekly plan on non-chronological reports for year 1. This plan is detailed and differentiated. Children are encouraged to use a signpost sentence to inform the reader what they will read. They will make notes by using a mind map and create an interesting, factual report. A simple display I used when studying the book ‘Journey to Jo’Burg’. We used this book to create pieces of writing with issues and dilemmas. (Planning is available in my shop also). Children loved the colorful characters which confirmed their understanding of what a dilemma was, while learning about the country of South Africa at the same time. *I know the sign in my cover picture (Jo’Berg) is spelled wrong, however I have fixed it in the resource itself.

My most recent class assembly was based on Theseus and the Minotaur (with a twist). We had covered this story during our topic of myths https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/myths-understanding-the-features-11943412 and the children LOVED it. I wrote this play script based on the myth however we added a little twist. The minotaur is known to be a FEARSOME, UGLY creature, but in our story he turns out to be nice once people get to know him. Moral: Don’t judge a book by its cover. The play script is editable to ensure that there is enough lines for the children in your class. I have 25 and there is 25 parts. However, it is an easy script to edit and adapt. To tie it all together, we sang ‘Eye of the Tiger’ in the middle of the performance which went down a treat with the parents and the school. Masks NOT included This resource contains the script ONLY and in total the play lasted about 15 minutes. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did and please let me know how you and your class got on.

These spellings are based off the statutory spellings of the English National Curriculum 2014. Children in years 3&4 are expected to spell these words by the end of Year 4, and in my classroom, we try to learn and familiarise ourselves with them as much as possible. With this resource, I print, laminate and cut up these words and have them in a basket or box in the classroom. As a starter to guided reading or any English lesson really, I take out the basket and give each table 5 words to focus on. They discuss the words and the spelling patterns, along with the meaning. This way the words are familiar to them. To increase children’s use of these words, any time they use one of them in their writing, they are encouraged to underline it to show they can spell it. Thus, the spelling of my year 4s has greatly improved, thank god! This resource comes with 109 words in both yellow and black and white. Please leave a review and let me know your thoughts. St. Patrick’s Day Activities (Reading and Writing) - Let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with these fun no-prep activities in your class for March. These activties are based around a persuasive text, encouraging you to visit the country of Ireland. This Product Includes: Page 1- How to use this product. Page 2- Clumping Activity (learning how to group similar information into the same paragraphs).
