Match Stick Maths Problem Solving Task Cards – Years 5 and 6 Extension Activity
This pack of 30 maths problem solving task cards will get your children balancing simple equations and solving shape based problems by moving the sticks around. They can be done mentally, however my children love acting them out by making the numbers with sticks as shown on the cards.
These cards work great as an extension activity. Laminate the cards and put them in a box with matchsticks ready for use.
The pack comes with sheets for children to record their solutions and an answer key.

Maths Task Cards: Years 5 and 6
These are perfect for those early finishers in years 5 and 6 who want a challenge or as a starter activity to get their brains warmed up. There are 46 differentiated cards that cover a range of concepts and problems complete with answer and solution sheets.
Task cards are a wonderful way to allow students to be active learners and work both independently or cooperatively with a partner or group. There are so many ways you can use them in your classroom!

Adjective Acting Game
This fun and entertaining activity (for both the teacher and children!) is played like charades. It is an exciting and a practical way for children to learn to recognise and use adjectives to improve their writing.
There are 24 simile cards with each card containing ideas as to how they could act out the adjective.
This game can be played in groups, pairs or as a whole class.

States of Matter (Liquids, Solids, and Gases) QR Code Quiz
This QR code quiz is perfect for introducing the topic of ‘States of Matter’ or as a refresher lesson for years 3 - 6. It covers a variety of questions on solids, liquids, and gases. You will be amazed at how much they can learn about states of matter in a short amount of time!
This activity works best in the outdoors. Hide the QR codes around your outdoor area and then give the children the answer sheet and the I-pads. They must go around, find the answers, and complete the answer sheet.
If you are using the QR codes, you will need a QR scanner, which you can download free from the app store.
Alternatively you can print the cards two sided (with the answers on the back) if you do not have the technology available.
I find it works really well if you get the children to do the QR quiz, and then a week later give them the same questions to see what they have remembered.

Religious Education: Easter Activities
Teaching Easter is easy with this set of exciting and engaging activities that will get your children thinking deeply about the true religious meaning of Easter. It is a perfect hassle free resource for both Sunday schools and in the classroom at this exciting time of year.

The Bugs Hotel Research Project - Data Handling - Graphs - Habitats - Mini-beasts
Building a bug hotel is great fun for all ages groups, however this pack will encourage students to look more carefully at the different insects their hotel is attracting and the habitats they thrive in.
For this project they’ll design a hotel and observe the changes over time.
It is a great cross-curricular project if you are looking at data handling, habitats, living things, and even engineering.

Fractions of Numbers Game
This NO PREP engaging fractions lesson (with financial literacy links) is designed to help children learn or practise how to find a fraction of a number. It is designed to be played as a whole class, however would work just as well in small groups.
The aim of the game is to collect as much ‘money’ (obviously imaginary!) as possible. In each round they will be given two options (e.g. 1/3 of $21 or ¼ of $28) and must try to choose the highest amount. They choose which ever they think is highest, work it out, and record it on their sheet. If they work it out incorrectly they do not get to keep any of the ‘money’. At the end the player with the highest score / amount of money is the winner.
I award a few more of our Multiplication Trading Cards as a prize which they love.
For those that need more support we have found it helps if they go with a partner that is able to support them.
This is a fantastic lesson to link in with financial literacy as the harder fractions are generally the highest amount. They need to decide if it’s worth the risk and attempt the harder one.

Algebra Task Cards: Grades 4 - 6
Algebra is a word many children dread. These algebra task cards are a fun way for your class to get the basics to algebra problem solving. Simply print (laminate if you like), stick the cards around your school, and send them off on their algebra adventure. We have had great success with these cards and now the children ask to do more algebra!

Space: Planet Fact File
This Planet Fact File is the perfect activity for your children to learn all about the planets in our solar system by completing their own personal booklet. They are required to research key information about the planets in order to complete the booklet. This pack contains two sets, one set where they can draw the planets, and the other where an image is already on the information sheets.

Science Murder Mystery - Materials and their Properties - States of Matter
Science Murder Mysteries are great fun for both you and the students. For this mystery students will use their knowledge of materials and their properties as well as their states of matter knowledge to investigate who poisoned Andrew Smith. They’ll look at the 5 suspects poisons both using their eyes and under a microscope and compare the poisons to the one found at the crime scene.
They’ll have to figure out how to separate the substances in the water (salt, sugar, etc.) to take a closer look and make their comparisons to figure out which suspect to put in jail!

Estimation: Outdoor Problem Solving Task Cards
This maths pack has 20 differentiated task cards each with a problem involving estimation in outdoors. It will get your class outside applying and improving their estimation and problem solving skills.
Along with each card there is a clue card in order to support those children that need a helping hand.
How I used them: After having an initial lesson on what estimation is and going through a few basic problems I stuck the cards up in appropriate places outside. In the pairs the children went around the school grounds finding the cards and solving the problems. My class got through about 4 problems each per lesson.
This is a great activity to challenge your class and get them enjoying maths!
