Overview of unit: Students will read extracts from a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts, exploring the presentation of and attitudes to women in various contexts. Through exploring the experiences of various fictional and real women, students will understand ideas about misogyny, sexism, oppression, bias and race. By understanding how language can be manipulated to shape our perceptions, students will be challenged to explore their own attitudes and understand how these attitudes may have formed, and ultimately reflect on how they can help the feminist cause.
