**Sustainability and the Six R’s for KS3 ** Two worksheets and a lesson starter activity for a single KS3 lesson that covers Sustanable design ansnd the six R’s. These worksheets can be used together with Clips on my Youtube channel . There is a clip explaining the two toothbrushes and also a more general clip expilaining the six R’s. I would suggest starting the lesson off with the Six R’s cilp and completing the starter activity. Then watch the toothbrush comparison and complete the worksheet.

Product Analysis Exam type questions for A Level Product Design Lemon Juicers This resource is a longer response type of A level Product Design question, This question is about looking at two contrasting products and comparing them in terms of materials and processes used for manufacture. This question also has links to the work of Philippe Starck and postmodern design. When answering this type of question many students, despite producing paragraphs of text fail to gain the full mark available for the question. This consists of two A3 sheets one is a question sheet and the second contains full marking guidance from the examiner, for the exam. This then enables students to complete the question and then ideally peer mark the response. These sheets would be ideal for a stand alone a level question or as a revision or exam practice task.

Here is a home learning task for students to complete to consolidate their understanding of the process of the conversion of timber. This is a is required for all of the GCSE D&T specifications. this consists of an A3 homework sheet and also an additional A5 support sheet, I have also included the support sheet as an A4 sheet which could be used as part of an accompanying lesson. This is a pack of Learning check question sheets covering a range of Design Technology subjects. There are three or four GCSE style questions on a sheet and the sheets are arranged two to an A4 sheet making each learning check A5 size. There are 7 different sheets covering, manufactured boards, scales of production, lean manufacturing, wood and metal tools. An set of teaching materials for a complete lesson that investigate the function and sustainability of packaging by making comparisons between two different types of packaging available for clothes washing pods. the sheets contain GCSE style questions relating to the properties of materials and sustainability. This sheet is supported by a YouTube walkthrough of questions and also a clip explaining the packaging of detergent pods. the main sheet is supplied in A3 or A4 format. there is an additional learning check sheet with two sheets on an A4 sheet, which can be used to check unterstaning the following lesson. Three sheets to assist students in compiling information to then produce the Design Brief & Specification sheet for their GCSE NEA. I use these over a couple of lessons to allow students to gather the information to produce a high quality Specification and Design Brief nea sheet. The various exam boards do not allow providing frameworks for writing, however, I personally feel that if these are not given to students electronically but write on these sheets as they research in each area then use the booklet to compile the NEA sheets in their own style.

GCSE D&T Exam Design Question Barbeque Tools An A3 sheet containing GCSE style questions relating to the design of products. These questions relate to processes of manufacturing materials and ergonomic design. This sheet is supported by a YouTube walkthrough and also a clip relating to ergonomics of barbeque tools. This can be used a a part of a GCSE D&T lesson

An A3 worksheet on the topic of computer game design. This sheet would support a lesson in Design and Technology or Art subject areas. This would make an ideal lesson as part of a computer game design project, or as a standalone or cover lesson. The object of the lesson is to design a monster character for a space themed computer game. The student’s are prompted on the sheet to consider the features of the monster that will make the game more interesting and enjoyable to play. There is also a link on the sheet to possible career paths for game design included in the sheet which could promote classroom discussion or be utilised prior to the end of KS3 options.

A set of seven A4 sheets that cover industrial production, lean manufacturing, and just in time manufacturing. These comprise a mix of exam type questions and scaffolding for note taking. I created these to work with the clips on my Youtube channel. This resource can be used in a Product design lesson in the classroom. Alternatively they could be set as home learning to consolidate the knowledge by providing the students with sheets and embedding the clips from Youtube into a Google classroom.

The manufacture of Iron and steel Home learning resource for GCSE A complete resource for students to complete a home learning task to understand the process of converting iron ore into steel. With a limited time to cover all areas of the specification for GCSE Design and Technology, Product Design or Engineering, it is useful to set some of the required areas for home learning tasks. This resource contains an A3 working sheet and an additional A4 support sheet which highlights the 5 main stages of the production of steel from iron ore.
