I create a range of resources aimed at primary aged children; most frequently upper KS2. My passion is teaching mathematics, my specialist subject area. I have two aims: To create fun resources which inspire children To create mathematicians, not robots! I believe great teaching, specifically with mathematics, should aim to teach children the underlining methods which children can apply to take initiative of their own learning! Comparing 12 hour time lesson, differentiated group activity sheets and powerpoint

(0)
This is a lesson which teaches how to work out the differences in time on a 12 hour clock. It is pitched at Lower KS2 and is perfect for Years 3 and 4. It has a 29 page PowerPoint which clearly demonstrates how to work out the differences between times on a 12 hour clock using a scaffolded approach. There is then a fun, differentiated group activity where the children must solve various questions focusing on differences between times. Also, each sheet contains a problem solving extension. Their answers will correspond to a secret code which can be revealed for each group at the end of the activity using the PowerPoint. I have also included a lesson plan which I recommend using when teaching this lesson. I have used it several times now and it has been a great success! The children absolutely love defeating my mathematics villain, Dr Doom. Please rate and provide me with feedback. Similar Dr Doom (and other resources) are available in my shop. Please check it out using the link below. Happy learning :) https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/d_roberts1

Here are two worksheets (differentiated by complexity) which require children to work with negative numbers. Firstly they must add the missing numbers to the pattern. Then they have some addition and subtractions which require the use of negative numbers. Finally, they apply their knowledge to answer word problems. Enjoy!
