GCSE Science / Physics - Nuclear Fission (PowerPoint and Lesson Plan) This is a detailed lesson and PowerPoint explaining nuclear fission. This is the twelfth lesson in the Atomic Structure unit of work (P4). The lesson covers the basic idea of splitting the atomic nucleus from neutron capture and expressing this as a diagram and nuclear equation. Chain reactions, nuclear bombs and nuclear power are also used to discuss fission in context. The good and bad aspects of fission are used to stimulate a discussion with a differentiated task list for pupils to then create work of their own on the topic. There is a detailed lesson plan with notes on teaching this topic as well as ideas to assist the teacher in differentiating the lesson and setting homework; a PowerPoint also supports the lesson. This is a detailed lesson and PowerPoint explaining how an electric loudspeaker works. This is the fifth lesson in the Electromagnetism unit of work (P7). The lesson recaps sound, longitudinal waves, frequency and amplitude and then applies them to a moving coil speaker, building on the knowledge of the motor force and solenoids from the previous lessons in the chapter. There are two PowerPoints either with or without the short 5 second video clip of the practical so that the 26MB download is optional. Ideas for differentiation, discussion, research and homework also included in lesson plan.
