The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Play script (6-10 years)

(0)
A short play script for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, based on the original book by L. Frank Baum, for you to adapt for your class or school performance. School plays are an incredible platform to introduce children to drama, to music, to theatre skills. The school play enables a group, or class of children, to interact together and to work in a team. There is a role for everyone, whether the child: is an actor, who is comfortable learning lines and being on the stage loves singing and dancing enjoys making props, costumes, or helping with technical skills backstage, in sound or lighting A positive experience in a school play boosts confidence and helps a child to feel valued. They can be performed at any time of the year and not just at Christmas. It is a good way to end a term and get parents more actively involved. They can be elaborately staged events, or just a simple assembly. If you have read our book Park Lane School Presents… The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, why not put on your very own school production, using our play script as a starting point. 35 pages

If you have enjoyed reading our adapted version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, why not have a go at answering the questions to see how much you have remembered. There are some pictures to colour too. It is never too early to practise comprehension skills to see if your children have understood what they have read and to develop their skills of analysis. So, we have put together a series of questions to help your children do just that. In fact, there are three types of questions, those that require the child to retrieve, or find facts that are hiding in the texts; those that ask the child to give a logical explanation of what they have observed. This means the child will need to form his or her own opinion, deduce, or infer, what is implied in the text. Some questions require the child to understand phrases or vocabulary used. Younger children can just call out the answers, while older children can work through the pages to test their comprehension skills. Includes answers. 90 pages. Age 6-10

Craft Activity: Design And Decorate A Christmas Room

Design and decorate a Christmas living room. A super fun craft activity for kids that will ignite your child’s imagination and help them get creative. Simply colour your chosen furniture and Christmas decorations, and then, cut them out. Next, arrange all the pieces in the room outline and stick down with glue. Alternatively, you can cut and stick everything first, then colour. Younger children may need help with cutting out and fixing the different elements. It is best to leave a small border when you cut round the more intricate, little pieces; then, when stuck, colour the border to blend the pieces into your design. Be inventive - you can use felt tips, colouring pencils, paint, glitter, sequins, bits of fabric, or felt. Plus, you could design and draw your own furniture, or decorations. We are confident kids will love designing their own Christmas living rooms. Included in this pack (to download and print) is an A4 room outline and eleven A4 pages of furniture and decoration options to cut and stick.
