Children work together to produce an alphabet of common nouns and proper nouns. As well as helping them learn the difference between different types of nouns it helps them choose appropriate vocabulary and to think about alliteration too.

Children often struggle to identify verbs in sentences especially when the verb consists of more than one word. This powerpoint looks at: verbs in their simplest forms - eg. I have a brother verbs that might not really look like verbs because they do not seem very active - eg. he is in the bathroom verbs that are made up of more than one word and an explanation of the terms** auxiliary verb** and** main verb** It is interactive and you can ask the children to answer questions individually or to work in pairs on longer more creative activities.
