Link to a very useful TED talk with a set of questions that are modelled on the internal assessment in Listening. Trialled for two years and found to be an excellent preparation for assessment. PowerPoint is a teaching resource with key skills in Purpose/Audience, Language and Main Ideas. It has model answers to go over with pupils and an extra language question. Full talk and transcript can be found on the link.

S1 focus but can be used to support creative writing in S2-S4 supported sets. Outcome: WW1 short story. Pupils very positive about this work - especially boys who are not particularly motivated.
