Library Quiz that can be used in any adult/college library. The quiz, written for ESOL learners, can be used for any entry level learners of English needing to find out more about their local or college library. The quiz allows learners to find out key information about the library and targets in on specific resources that would be useful to entry level English learners.

A fun matching activity in 3 styles. Match the terms about books (author, blurb, index etc) to their meanings either by using the colour or black and white cut out cards (designed in a random order to let the students do the cutting without getting the answers!) or on a standard worksheet where they just draw a line between the terms and their meanings. A Christmas and festival themed reading piece with introductory activities, questions on text and writing output activity on festivals and celebrations aimed at E2-L1 learners but could be adapted for E1 easily. The reading draws from personal experience of Christmas celebrations and requires the learners to identify tenses from present, past and future as well as then answering questions in the correct the tenses.

An entry level reading activity ideal for learners visiting the Skills Show that don't have the reading skills to navigate the website. This clear reading comprehension summarises the event, describing where and when it happens and what happens there. Followed up by a vocabulary exercise using the sections of the show to elicit further jobs that would be included. Designed for entry level ESOL learners who are going to the show this reading and vocabularly activity really helps learners get an overview of the show and understand what happens there.

Fun board game for learners to play to practise their knowledge of the past simple verb 'to be'. This notoriously tricky part of tense can be practised over and over in a fun board game. Just print double sided in either a4 or a3 and laminate for longevity if needed, all you need is a set of dice and some counters (although I've got learners to make their own counters and dice in the past).
