Exam Question Practice - Inference A lesson on a word document on the theme of the attitudes towards drug use. Starter activity - students look at attitudes and decide if they are modern or 19th C. Task 2 - read the texts and state which one is 19th and which one is 21st and see if they can explain why. Task 3 - Students list the differences between the two in a Venn diagram Task 5 - students answer an exam style question following a basic writing frame, with a peer marking/self evaluation table at the end. Extension task - How this relates to question 4 paper 2 - students find the language techniques in the text and attempt to answer question 4 following the writing frame.

A reading and writing lesson based on wilderness survival, students have to make decisions on what they should do if they crashed in a desert and then respond to an web forum. Speaking and listening exam preparation. Looks at mark scheme for both exam tasks to suit the new spec of the Edexcel functional skills lesson. New Year comprehension included for Functional Skills level 1 but can be adapted for Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE English.

GCSE AQA Revision looking at questions 3, 4 and 5 for paper 1. AO4 Lesson objectives based on Blooms Taxonomy, extension activities and model answers included, can last between two hours to three depending on the ability of the class. Looks at Structural techniques, Language analysis and Creative writing.

A revision lesson going in depth in how to use context to add greater depth to an answer looks at question 3, 4 and 5 should take two hours. Is themed on the police and our rights as citizens, its a really nice lesson for discussions and for pushing students to get the higher grades. A lesson designed to help students become more clear and concise in their writing. Looks at how to make a text more persuasive and is a nice introduction into using persuasive language techniques (direct address, rule of three, powerful adjectives and rhetorical questions). Goes into how techniques would be used for certain text types. It should last approximately two hours. Fully differentiated with extension activities. KS2 adaptable

A lesson on writing descriptively or narratively, can be used as home learning or be taught as a lesson. Good for use as an introduction to writing creatively. Glossary and worksheet included. Covers: Metaphors Similes Personification word classes.

A 19 page booklet looking at developing student’s skills in order to achieve higher marks in the AQA GCSE English paper 2 exam. This booklet looks at the major skills reuired to pass the exam and the questions they relate to. Contents: Identifying language techniques Inference Language analysis Expressing your own opinion All sections come with model answers. The booklet should keep students occupied for many hours and help their understanidng of the exam because of its design students can complete this by themsleves and check their answers themselves for independent learning. This was designed from a few problem areas and my students actually asked me to make this for them to get rid of the common difficulties they face in paper 2.

I made a reading test for students to practice their skills. I wrote my own texts and based the questions of the new post 2019 Edexcel reform of the level 2 functional skills. The texts are in an editable word document, I put the questions and answers on a power point but I also included a copy of the questions on a word document. 15 questions in total same as the exam students are expected to spend 75 minutes on this, same as the exam. All resources are fully editable so if there’s anything you don’t like it can be fixed easily but I tried to represent every question that the students may face in the exam.

A full lesson on comparing texts based on theme of Police power. Task 1 - using quotes Task 2 - A Padlet debate on in class debate depending on home learning or in school. Task 3 - Comparing texts comprehension questions Task 4 - spelling patterns explanation and tasks looking at ‘tion and sion’ patterns, suffixes that end in Y and plural suffixes. Task 5 - Plenary students choose one of three options in order to express their opinion on police powers. Answers included and all worksheets have been put on one editable document so that it can be used for home learning or in the class. I made this for level 1 functional skills but it can be applied to different year groups.
