French Taboo game - Le Petit Prince

Playing games and having fun is when learning really happens in French class. I love to play the game Taboo with my students. French Taboo is a game that is easy to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. This Taboo set is about the wonderful and delightful classic story of the Petit Prince written by Antoine de Saint Exupéry. This Taboo set Special le Petit Prince edition includes 167 Vocabulary words translated as well as files in French only. Great for Immersion schools! Object of the game One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can’t use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. The teams take turn guessing and verifying no Taboo words have been used. You can also play this game in pairs if everyone agrees not to cheat. Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues. French Airports and Vocabulary - A lesson on French culture

These printable handouts accompany a video about French airports and vocabulary on YouTube. The video is not my property and is not downloadable with this resource. You will need to watch it online. The video is about 8 minutes long, and this resource includes one page with 12 questions in English to share with your students for discussion about flying and airports prior to watching the video. The questions do not assume that everyone has had the experience of taking a plane. The second page includes 12 questions written in English to be answered while watching the video. There is a vocabulary list in French and English of all 28 French words introduced in the video. Finally, to wrap up the lesson there is a fun crossword puzzle to complete. The clues are given in English and the answers are in French. These resources make it easy to transform a short 6 minute video into a comprehensive cultural lesson that you’ll feel good about using with your students. The video is presented by Géraldine from Comme une Française. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hEzbcrVRTU. In the deck of 42 cards there are 7 families of 6 cards (je - tu - il - nous - vous - ils). One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in the “pioche”. One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He might say, “Dans la famille VENDRE, est-ce que tu as TU VENDS?” His goal is to come up with a complete family. If the player doesn’t have it, he says “pioche”. If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins! French Prepositions of Location Reading Exercise and Writing Worksheet

(0)
As your students learn French prepositions of location it is nice to have several exercises and activities planned to get in as much practice as possible. This is a reading exercise about a tidy bedroom and a writing exercise about an untidy one. Give your students the list of French prepositions of location and provide them with the quizlet study set I’ve made to help them practice and master the new vocabulary. There is a paragraph to read about a tidy bedroom. The idea is to see if students can figure out what it means even if they don’t know all of the vocabulary. The prepositions of location are used as context clues. The next part of this activity is to have students write a paragraph of their own about the image provided featuring an untidy bedroom. A list of useful vocabulary is provided and a quizlet study set as well. This list of vocabulary itemizes everything you see in the bedroom so that students can focus on the writing activity rather than looking up words in the dictionary. Students write ten complete statements about the untidy bedroom.
