50 ESL - ELL this or that question cards - Game of two extremes

50 ESL - ELL this or that question cards - Game of two extremes Keep your middle school and high school students active by playing the "Two Extremes" game. The facilitator will use a stack of cards listing things, activities or places that fall at opposite ends of the spectrum, such as: salty or sweet, London or New York, Mac or PC. The students start standing in a big group, but when each choice is read, they move to the side of the room that the facilitator indicates is associated with their choice (see the arrows on the cards). Those who can’t make up their mind or don’t have a preference remain in the center. Students will see all of the things that they have in common with their classmates and will likely learn some new vocabulary while they’re at it! These cards are great for middle school or high school and can be used at any time, especially when everyone needs a break and needs to stand up and move around a bit. This activity requires no teacher prep once the set of cards is printed and cut out. Don’t want to print or don’t have time to do so? That’s ok! There’s a PDF file with only one card per page that you can project and play as a class. Included: PDF of big cards to project when you don’t want to print Stack of 50 cards to print, cut out, punch holes in and attach with a ring - Black and white & color copies provided How to play LICENSING TERMS: This purchase includes a license for one teacher only for personal use in their classroom. ESL - ELL CATCH PHRASE Speaking Game

(0)
ESL - ELL CATCH PHRASE Speaking Game Catch Phrase is a fun game to get your students speaking and having fun in English while learning tons of new vocabulary words. This game doesn't follow any particular theme, so the 80 playing cards display 80 unrelated words - a fantastic way to round out your students' speaking skills! This game is a lot like the TABOO game (click here for themed ESL TABOO games) but there are no taboo words. Each game card shows the word in question in French along with an image to illustrate it. This product includes: How to play 80 playing cards in color 80 playing cards in black and white File showing one card per page to project for all class activity The game is played in two teams. The goal for each player is to get their team to say the word or word phrase displayed on the game card. One member of a team starts a timer for 5 minutes and tries to get his or her team to guess the displayed word or phrase. A clue-giver can make any physical gesture and give almost any verbal clue, but may not say a word that rhymes with any of the words, give the first letter of a word, say the number of syllables, or say part of any word in the clue. When the team guesses correctly, the other team takes the stack of cards and takes its turn. Play continues until the timer runs out. The team not holding the stack of cards when time runs out scores a point. They also have one chance to guess the word or phrase, with team members allowed to confer; a correct answer earns a bonus point. The first team to score 7 points wins. You can use these speaking question cards after teaching themed vocabulary or as a fun interactive activity on a day when you want to just focus on speaking and reviewing vocabulary in a different way. Each set contains 30 questions. More than half of the questions begin with interrogative words encouraging more than YES and NO responses. All cards are visually stimulating and feature a circle to punch out in the upper left corner so that you can print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and hook the cards together with a keyring. Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities.
