OCR SHP B: Crime and Punishment - Overview of society 1500-1750

This resource follows the same format as the lesson focused on the overview between 1250-1500. Pupils complete a 'clock sheet' with the various key features that was typical for this period. This resource has been differentiated on some sections of the clock sheet to help pupils access the reading. Pupils then highlight the key changes and continuities. After these two tasks, pupils listen to a podcast (accessed through the dynamic learning website) and note down the key social, political and religious changes. This lesson is a good 'way in' to this period.

Was anyone winning the war in 1917?

Pupils are given the four information sheets to work with in pairs. They research from these sheets to note down if the Allies were likely to lose or win. Whilst doing this pupils become aware of life on the German Home Front. They then create their own significance pie chart with explanation as to which statement they agree with the most. Good lesson for a year that is often forgotten in First World War studies. A challenging lesson.
