AQA GCSE Psychology - goes through the use of qualitative and quantitative data, as well as primary and secondary.

Lesson 3 - looking at different types of LTM (episodic, semantic, procedural) delivered as a carousel activity with students moving around the room making notes on an A3 table. Application question to assess knowledge,

I put together this small work booklet to accompany the memory topic. We watched this in the last 3 lessons before Christmas. You will require Disneys Inside Out. Approx 3 lessons, starters and activities to accompany DVD. The students really enjoyed this - you could make more of the review activity by booking the library and making them write it in the style of a newspaper activity.

A work booklet that covers the four definitions of abnormality (statistical infrequency, deviation from social norms, failure to function, deviation from ideal mental health). Each page has activities and also includes evaluation. Answer booklet for teacher. Suitable for AS and A2 can be completed in lesson or as homework. Will take students approx 2 hours to complete. Powerpoint to accompany answers.

Lesson goes through the factors that influence conformity. Starts by looking at Asch's study. Students then complete a carousel activity to address the social and dispositional factors influencing conformity. Lesson ends with application question. Made for high ability Y9 psychology following new AQA GCSE specification. Approx 60 min worth of content

Lesson 4 - Lesson goes through Bartett's War of the Ghost - with worksheet and evaluation. Influence of schemas on memory. Application based plenary.

Social and Dispositional factors influencing prosocial behaviour, Piliavin's study. Application to Kitty Genovese. Approx 3 lessons. Application activity asking students to state what they think would happen - using their knowledge of factors. Also includes student tracker for the rest of the social influence lessons.

Powerpoint slides going through the main features of the cognitive and biological approach and Wundt's contribution to psychology. These were made for last revision - lecture style lessons. They would make good starting points when planning lessons as most of the content is on there. You would need to add little activities/mini plenaries or video clips etc, and evaluation will need to be added in more detail if these were to become full lessons

Lesson 2 (approx. 2-3 lessons). Lesson goes through the key assumptions of the behaviourist approach: Pavlov and classical conditioning and Skinner operant conditioning. Application to phobias. Links to video in notes. Colour coding evaluation task and mini whiteboard plenary (true false, ABCD)

Lesson for AS psychology students on standard deviation. Includes mini-plenaries and students rate themselves to direct whether they complete past exam question (AQA A Spec) or watch consolidation video.

Lesson 7 - Discusses the influence of context on memory. Looks at Godden and Baddley study- mini experiment with students learning words in and out of the classroom. Homework - spelling test. Application plenary.

Lesson 4: Methods of control, standardised procedure, counterbalancing, random allocation (also squeezed piloting on at the end). Practical activity where students are randomly allocated to be given a sweet or not. Application to research investigation where students are asked to apply which methods of control must be used as a plenary exercise.

A-Level issues and debates - holism and reductionism debate. Work sheet on biological and environmental reductionism. All content and evaluation is on powerpoint.

Starter - recap process of synaptic transmission. Teacher quick goes through function of SSRI's and BZ. Then students create medication boxes for the different treatments, including how they work, supporting evidence and side effects. Including evaluation (I print of the slides for students to use). Students enjoyed this lesson.

Approx 3 lessons. Introduce them to the exams awaiting them at the end of the year. Recap Darwin and evolutionary theory, concepts of anisogamy, sexual selection theory (inter and intra). Video clips to help illustrate concepts. Read the conclusion from Buss' article. Evaluation Clark and Hatfield, Singh etc. Agony Aunt activity where students must use knowledge to explain why couples may prefer other partners (eg wife has left me for a man who is younger, more active and taller). First lesson on memory - going through expectations, input, encoding, storage retrieval. Discussing why memory important for survival. (50 min)

Lesson looks at the social and dispositional factors influencing conformity. Key Study: Asch, my students enjoyed spotting the differences activity. Students learn factors by doing carousel activity or it can be done teacher lead.
