A worked example of ideas in response to a stimulus card on tattoos and physical appearance. I used it for revision on how to prepare answers for the speaking examination. Can be used as a brainstorm of ideas.

Spanish -ar verbs conjugation card race - revision of all tenses

(3)
This is another of my verb card races. You need to print off some sets of the cards, cut them out and laminate them. Pupils then race each other to pick up the cards to match what they see on the screen. I have mine move their cards to an answer board to stop them from copying others and then you can award points to whoever has the right cards on display. It encourages a good sense of competition, can be used again and again, and makes verb drills fun. (Requires knowledge of present, preterite, near future, future and imperfect tenses)

French Writing - Great Sentence Bake Off

(3)
A very visual presentation and accompanying worksheets designed to encourage pupils to build up their sentnces rather than translate them directly from English. Using the Bake Off as a reference, pupils look at how to make their cake (the sentence) using a variety of ingredients (structures). I use the verb/ subject base (if the verb is not quite right then the cake sinks in the middle). There is a table of different structures for pupils to translate and identify before they create their own sentences.

GCSE Spanish Tense Revision Board Game

(8)
This is just a Spanish version of the French game I uploaded. You can edit it to suit your groups. All they need are counters and dice. Throw the die and move forward and give the Spanish. If they cannot answer they move back three spaces. First to finish wins. Please let me know if you spot any mistakes.

GCSE Spanish Controlled Assessment Checklist

(8)
This is a checklist I give to my class when they are writing or preparing passages which may later be used to create drafts for assessments. The box for controlled assessment phrases refers to the lists of useful coursework phrases from mfl Sunderland.

er verbs picture story

(45)
This is a little activity i give to my class after we have practised the present tense of regular er verbs. I give them the list of verbs and encourage them to create their story based around the verbs rather than the other way round. If you check their French before they draw the pictures they can provide the basis of a very colourful display.

Presentation begins with review of 'habiter' and vocabulary for houses and regions. Reviews prepositions used to mean 'in'. Worksheet provides opportunity to write full sentences based on the presentation and there is a small (but difficult) gapfill exercise on prepositions. Also includes introduction to rooms of house.

Crimen en el castillo - a whodunnit

(12)
I made this activity for pupils over two or three lessons. It is based on the French expo 3 activity and covers imperfect and preterite tenses and narrating in the past. All of the questions are in Spanish. There is a vocabulary list to fill in as they go along. There are 2 clues but pupils have to complete exercises correctly in order to get them. Do let me know if you spot any errors.
