We laminate these and have them on every desk in the classroom. The feedback from our pupils is really positive and they have helped increase the amount of language used spontaneously in class.

Freizeit - talking about what you do in your free time

This is a lesson I prepared to review the German present tense on the theme of free time activities. It can be used to accompany the Echo courses. It begins with a brain teaser (in German of course) to practise word association. Then present tense phrases are introduced. You can show the vocabulary more than once before asking the class to practise their memory skills. There is a verb drill and a brief reminder of how to form the present tense. There are reading and speaking exercises. Mention is also made of stem changing verbs (lesen/fahren/sehen).

er verbs GCSE tenses conjugation race

This is another of my verb card races. Print off the cards from the word doc and get groups to compete against each other to get the translations right. It uses the verb 'porter' as an example and requires knowledge of the present, perfect, imperfect, future and near future.
Irregular Present Tense Card Race

Irregular Present Tense Card Race

(6)
Print out several sets of the cards and laminate them. Pupils work in pairs or small groups and race against each other to form the present tense with the cards after reading from the PowerPoint. Good element of competition and really highlights how much (or little!) they actually know. Can be easily adapted to suit your requirements too.
Spanish -ar verbs conjugation card race - revision of all tenses

Spanish -ar verbs conjugation card race - revision of all tenses

(3)
This is another of my verb card races. You need to print off some sets of the cards, cut them out and laminate them. Pupils then race each other to pick up the cards to match what they see on the screen. I have mine move their cards to an answer board to stop them from copying others and then you can award points to whoever has the right cards on display. It encourages a good sense of competition, can be used again and again, and makes verb drills fun. (Requires knowledge of present, preterite, near future, future and imperfect tenses)
