This Tarsia puzzle covers the theme of the Elizabethan England. More specifically Edexcel's topic 1. Great for 9-1 GCSE revision and intervention sessions. I use these at the starts of ends of lessons and they can take 10-20 minutes depending on your class's confidence in the material. All materials are provided here including student instructions, student puzzle pieces and teacher answers. All images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for re-use. Why did relations between the Grand Alliance start to fall apart?

This lesson should be taught after students have researched the initial conferences in the 1940s. In this lesson students recap the events of the conferences at Tehran, Yalta and Potsdam. They then begin to consider the impacts of the development, testing and use of the atomic bomb. Plenty here to keep students busy and 2 video clip links are included to extend student understanding. Taught as part of the Edexcel History 9-1 course.

Finding God or the Good in all things historical (created for activity week)

(0)
This resource was planned for a 1 hour and 30 minute session during an Activity Week during the Summer Term. The theme was based around "Finding God in all things" but the resource could easily be adapted for a secular purpose. During the session, students research a historical figure or event and research who, what, why, when, how. The students are then tasked with creating a video about their research on ipads (if available in your school) or on their smart phones. There's plenty to do here and a lesson plan for the teacher. Great for independent learning and would easily work for an introductory lesson during taster days or introductory weeks. Use the comment feature below to ask questions. Was defeat of the Spanish Armada, England's finest hour?

In this lesson students take on the viewpoint of the famous Tudor and Stuart historian: David Starkey. Students use their own knowledge and a provided card sort to challenge Starkey's view. This lesson was designed for KS3 but I have used variants of it for GCSE and even A-level. I absolutely love this lesson and so do the students. I always try to sell the idea that we are going to post our responses to Starkey in attempt to get a reply. All images acquired through a search engine filtered to "labelled for re-use".
