With literacy and extended written the focus across the wider curriculum, this simple activity card will help pupils to produce a well written paragraph in a typically practical based subject where pupils may not expect to be producing written work. A PEE paragraph (Point, Evidence, Explain) is a technique used by English departments to help pupils produce a well written paragraph. A PEE paragraph a simple technique which could be useful to support lower abilities or younger years. Other techniques such as PEEL, PEAS & PETER may help support older pupils. A revision clock is a innovative method of getting pupils to split their time up in a lesson or at home when revising and to break larger topics down into manageable chunks. Pupils have a limited time to write down facts about a given topic. This revision clock has been adapted to allow pupils thinking time to construct an extended writing paragraph. In this case the time limit will probably be less than an hour, say six minutes. The six minutes are split into the three sections: Point, Evidence, Explain. Pupils would two minutes to write notes or construct each part of their paragraph, creating a draft version. This is a quick and effective way of showing pupils that they can write an extended paragraph with ease. This wall display could be used as an activity to support the learning and use of ACCESS FM in a variety of DT/engineering courses. Once put together by pupils it could be displayed on the wall to help remind pupils about ACCESS FM. Pupils could also remove the piece they require and then reutrn it when finished. It could be used as a start or product evaluation/ product specification tool, pupils have to match up the ACCESS FM letters with questions that could be used to explain each point. Document is available in Illustrator and pdf formats and has been set to 600x400mm a common laser ply/mdf/acrylic size This can be easily modified or copy and pasted to alternative software such as 2D design. The document is preset assuming that the laser will etch red and cut black lines but again this can be easily changed to suit your laser cutter. Fold the tabs over so they cover the boxes. Pupils are give an amount of time (I suggest five minutes per box) to write a definition, how the property is measured, an application where it is needed etc. In an hour pupils will have a completed revision guide. Pupils can then cover up the definitions and test themselves, before checking to see if they were correct.

Simply print on to A3 (double sided) and cut along the lines between each physical property. Fold the tabs over so they cover the boxes. This activity could be used to support creative idea generation tasks or a start helping pupils to learn about SCAMPER. All you need to do is cut out the front and back of the cards, stick them together and laminate! SCAMPER is technique that can be used to help stem creative idea generation and could also be used as a product analysis tool. This could be easily adapted for use with any DT/Engineering KS4/KS5 course. Kagan structures are a novel way of improving engagement in the classroom, rules of the activity are included in the resource. Quiz Quiz Trade Rules: Each pupil receives one card. The card has a question and an answer on it. Teacher says ‘stand up, hand up, pair up’ With card in hand pupil stands up finds another pupil and the pair high five! They then put hands down so other pupils can find a pair. Partner A asks Partner B the question. If Partner B answers correct Partner A praises them If they answer incorrectly, Partner A teaches them the answer. Partner B then asks their question to Partner A. Once complete they thank each other, swap cards and then move on to find a new partner. Alternatively pupils could use the cards to ask themselves or other about a given product.
