Long John Silver's Gone to Sea: A Pirate Song

Long John Silver's Gone to Sea: A Pirate Song

(0)
Using the tune of 'Bobby Shaftoe' a well known sea shanty I created this short song about the infamous 'Long John Silver.' Rhythmic skills could be practised by clapping and tapping in the first section then twizzing round with a partner in the middle section. Whatever you do I'm sure the children will love it and it will add another dimension to a topic on 'Pirates' or 'The Sea.'

Kung Fu Panda: A song about a Panda's Habitat

(0)
A fun song written for a Year 2 class to link with their topic on 'Habitats'. The children went on to create their own song verses about other endangered animals and we performed our class song in an assembly. Actions really enhance the song log with percussion accompaniment.

Mrs Chicken Laid an Egg: A Spring and Easter Song

(0)
A fun counting song which would make a great addition to a Spring or Easter Topic. The song tells of Mrs Chicken sitting on her eggs and almost being surprised as each chick comes along. You could use this in your maths sessions too and children will love performing the actions contained within the lyrics.

Awesome Angels Versus Shimmering Stars (A Christmas Nativity Play for KS1)

(0)
In this refreshingly different retelling of the age old tale, the story of the Nativity unfolds during a court case to decide whether the 'Awesome Angels' or the 'Shimmering Stars' played the most important part in the story of the first Christmas. The humorous script and ten catchy songs in a variety of musical idioms will engage KS1 children from start to finish without diminishing the importance of this great event. No child will feel left out as there are 60 parts in total with plenty of opportunities for solo or group singing, dancing, actions and basically a whole lot of fun in this unique Christmas Play for Infants. Hope you have as much fun with this as we did!

Star Reporters (A Christmas Nativity for EYFS AND KS1)

(0)
'Star Reporters' is a retelling of the Christmas Story with a modern twist. The action takes place up high in the galaxy where twinkling stars are assigned to 'spy' on earthly events below with their twinkling eyes, record this on their 'Star Pads' then report their findings back to their superiors Lady Astrid and Lord Cosmos supporting their stories with video footage. Narrators make sure that the nativity story is clear which is then acted out in song and dance. The children from Sacred Heart School in Ware and St. Joseph's in Hertford loved the songs from the hint of a 'Tango' in the 'Silly Census' song to the swing feel of the 'Singing Swinging Star' and parents loved the performances. However I realised that I had made the script too 'wordy' for F.S. so I have now written a simpler script for younger children and am marketing the original script as a K.S.1 script. I hope this helps you to put on a stress free Christmas Production.

The Littlies Nativity (A Christmas Nativity Play for Playgroups and EYFS)

(0)
A short and sweet chronological re-telling of the Nativity Story using well known children's songs. This was written as a special request from St Joseph's Playgroup in Hertford for their Christmas performance in 2014. The parents loved the children's performance and the playgroup leaders said it helped the children to remember the events leading up to the very first Christmas Day. Great fun was had by all.
Circles of Light (A thought provoking Service for Advent)

Circles of Light (A thought provoking Service for Advent)

(0)
Everything you need to produce a thought provoking Advent service for Junior Children. Each class owns a circle of light ( four purple candles in a wreath each with a theme.) The children then write their own bidding prayers, reflections or poems to accompany their own circle of light. I chose a mixture of old and new carols and songs to bring the sometimes 'tired' traditional carol service up to date and make it really relevant to the children in their Advent Journey. The service can be adapted to suit your own needs. This one was written to be performed in St Joseph's Church in Hertford. Hope this helps you create a really meaningful service in amongst the secular build up to Christmas.
The Nativity Band (The Christmas Nativity Story told using musical instruments)

The Nativity Band (The Christmas Nativity Story told using musical instruments)

(0)
An original re-telling of the Nativity Story giving the children the opportunity to play classroom percussion instruments as well. In the story the 'teachers' ask the children which instruments would best paint a musical picture of the characters in the story. As the instruments are selected and played the characters take centre stage and the story unfolds. The children, teachers and parents from Sacred Heart School in Ware and St Joseph's in Hertford really loved the performances.
Nativity Crackers (A Christmas Musical Nativity Play for KS1)

Nativity Crackers (A Christmas Musical Nativity Play for KS1)

(0)
A delightful Nativity Play with a modern day twist. An enlightened Parish Priest determined to make parishioners focus on the real meaning of Christmas hands each family a box of Christmas Crackers as they leave Midnight Mass. These are the 'Nativity Crackers' and each riddle and gift reveals something about the Christmas Story. As the crackers are pulled and the message dawns on the family, they freeze frame and we are transported back in time to the events of the first Christmas Story. The children, staff and parents of two Hertfordshire schools loved this play. The songs in a variety of styles offer much scope for actions, dance and solos and the script can be adapted to suit your needs.
Signs of Spring for You and Me: A Spring Song

Signs of Spring for You and Me: A Spring Song

(0)
A sweet and simple song for E.Y.F.S and Early K.S.1. about the signs of spring in parks and gardens. The song is easy to learn as it has a repetitive verse and a chorus that includes actions which the children will love. It would be a great addition to an end of topic assembly too.
'I am a slug!' A Mini Beast Song

'I am a slug!' A Mini Beast Song

(0)
The soft shoe shuffle lament of a poor lonely slug in search of some tender loving care even though he admits 'I eat all the lettuces grown by your Dad' in the lyrics. A short but fun song that children will love. Suitable for use with Play Groups, E.Y.F.S and K.S.1. and a great addition to a topic on Mini Beasts. The children will love not only singing the song but could create their own dance to accompany the idiom of the music and have great fun accompanying the song with instruments.
The Worm Rock'n' Roll: A Mini Beast Song
sallykeesallykee

The Worm Rock'n' Roll: A Mini Beast Song

(0)
A fun but simple Rock 'n' Roll Song with plenty of opportunity for movement and actions telling the story of a worm who lives 'under the ground but loves to move to that rock 'n' roll sound.' Children will have a ball joining in with this song and it's a great addition to a topic on Mini-Beasts.
Five Fat Bumble Bees: A Mini Beast Song
sallykeesallykee

Five Fat Bumble Bees: A Mini Beast Song

(0)
A busy bumble bee song where children learn to count backwards from 5, simple subtraction skills and practise vocal and listening skills whilst having great fun in the chorus moving in time to the music, buzzing and flapping like bumble bees. Why not listen to 'Flight of the Bumble Bee' by Rimsky Korsakov and encourage the children to select instruments to create their own 'Bumble Bee music? A great addition to a topic on Mini-Beasts
Sitting in My Family Tree: A Song About Families

Sitting in My Family Tree: A Song About Families

(0)
A fun song in the style of an American Folk Song to link with the Year 1 topic of 'Families Past and Present.' We danced the gallop, created accompaniments with class room instruments and generally had a 'blast' singing this song.
The Boogie Woogie Petshop: A fun song about Pets

The Boogie Woogie Petshop: A fun song about Pets

(0)
A Boogie Woogie Fun Song that children love. The song tells the story of a visit to a Pet Shop where the children beg their Mum to buy a pet and are disappointed each time she says no however she succumbs in the last verse when she sees a cute little puppy and everyone goes home happy. The song was written for an end of topic assembly on Pets but it is a great addition to topic based music lessons on pets or animals. The song is a great starting point for rhythm work including dance and for creative music.
'Oo Arr Where's My Treasure?' A fun pirate song with actions

'Oo Arr Where's My Treasure?' A fun pirate song with actions

(0)
This fun song was written for a foundation stage class. The lyrics of the well known 'What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor' were changed to include all the keywords and ideas associated with pirates. The children then performed the song in a circle with actions for the verses then joining hands and stepping in and out of the circle (hokey cokey style) during the chorus. A great song to enhance a topic on Pirates or The Sea.
Easter Bunny Counting Song: A Spring or Easter Counting Song

Easter Bunny Counting Song: A Spring or Easter Counting Song

This simple Easter and Spring song will delight children especially especially if you let them hop around the room in time to the music and use real Easter Eggs as visual aids. You could even incorporate an Egg Hunt in the Song and increase the numbers of eggs included.
Blue Bell Boogie Woogie: A Spring Song
sallykeesallykee

Blue Bell Boogie Woogie: A Spring Song

(0)
A delightful Spring song where the simple melody of the verse invokes skipping through a Spring Meadow. The chorus on the other hand will provide hours of fun as the children follow the dance steps in the lyrics. The possibilities for extended activities inspired by this song both musical and non musical are endless. Hope it inspires you and you have a lot of fun!
The Nativity Train on Track For Christmas (A Nativity Play for EYFS and KS1)

The Nativity Train on Track For Christmas (A Nativity Play for EYFS and KS1)

(0)
Everything you need: script, cast lists, sheet music, backing tracks and full audios, to put on a refreshingly different Christmas Nativity Play. Nativity Train on Track for Christmas is an original take on the Nativity story for EYFS and KS1 where we join the children on a train journey from one Nativity Station to the other. We visit Nazareth, The Roman Barracks, Feather Stone Farm (where the Donkey is having a little holiday from the busy town), Busy Bethlehem, Super Star Mountain, The Special Stable and Shepherd Mountain. The script is very simple with nine Station Masters setting the different scenes and there are all the usual suspects you would find in a traditional Nativity Story. The songs are catchy, easy to learn and humorous where appropriate including opportunities for solo singing but there are plenty of choruses for the whole cast to join in with and perform actions to as well. The parents and staff at St Joseph's School in Hertford and Sacred Heart in Ware thoroughly enjoyed this show and I hope you will too.
Chinese Zodiac Animal Song and Rap

Chinese Zodiac Animal Song and Rap

(0)
A fun song/rap written for a Nursery class to be performed with actions, props, claves and instruments linking with their topic on ‘Chinese New Year’. We performed this at an assembly with a blue cloth river, animal masks and instruments and the parents loved it. It would be suitable for the whole of KS1 and could be a stimulus for a whole host of activities from the use of ordinal numbers, to dance, to mask making as well as all the obvious musical activities.
