A simple re-telling of the traditional nativity with narration in rhyme, acting and singing. The songs are simple with opportunities for dancing and soloists but the addition of actions in the choruses of the songs means that all children feel involved and have a happy and pro-active nativity experience whilst learning about the true meaning of Christmas.
A short and sweet chronological re-telling of the Nativity Story using well known children's songs. This was written as a special request from St Joseph's Playgroup in Hertford for their Christmas performance in 2014. The parents loved the children's performance and the playgroup leaders said it helped the children to remember the events leading up to the very first Christmas Day. Great fun was had by all.
A new and exciting take on the traditional Christmas Story with groups of children representing different colours associated with Christmas. The action begins with a calypso style song simply called 'Kaleidoscopes' where children dance with brightly coloured gymnastic ribbons. The Kaleidoscopes then introduce each colour connection in rhyme and the story unfolds from the song 'Pretty Little Lady Dressed in Blue' to 'Black Night, Black Sheep' and 'Colourful Kings' dressed in purple, orange and turquoise. The children loved this show and sang their hearts out in all the songs from the upbeat rhythmical numbers to the gentle lullabies. The simple script was easy to learn and helped the children understand the real meaning of Christmas.
'Star Reporters' is a retelling of the Christmas Story with a modern twist. The action takes place up high in the galaxy where twinkling stars are assigned to 'spy' on earthly events below with their twinkling eyes, record this on their 'Star Pads' then report their findings back to their superiors Lady Astrid and Lord Cosmos supporting their stories with video footage. Narrators make sure that the nativity story is clear which is then acted out in song and dance. The children from Sacred Heart School in Ware and St. Joseph's in Hertford loved the songs from the hint of a 'Tango' in the 'Silly Census' song to the swing feel of the 'Singing Swinging Star' and parents loved the performances. However I realised that I had made the script too 'wordy' for F.S. so I have now written a simpler script for younger children and am marketing the original script as a K.S.1 script. I hope this helps you to put on a stress free Christmas Production.
In this refreshingly different retelling of the age old tale, the story of the Nativity unfolds during a court case to decide whether the 'Awesome Angels' or the 'Shimmering Stars' played the most important part in the story of the first Christmas. The humorous script and ten catchy songs in a variety of musical idioms will engage KS1 children from start to finish without diminishing the importance of this great event. No child will feel left out as there are 60 parts in total with plenty of opportunities for solo or group singing, dancing, actions and basically a whole lot of fun in this unique Christmas Play for Infants. Everything you need: script, cast lists, sheet music, backing tracks and full audios, to put on a refreshingly different Christmas Nativity Play. Nativity Train on Track for Christmas is an original take on the Nativity story for EYFS and KS1 where we join the children on a train journey from one Nativity Station to the other. We visit Nazareth, The Roman Barracks, Feather Stone Farm (where the Donkey is having a little holiday from the busy town), Busy Bethlehem, Super Star Mountain, The Special Stable and Shepherd Mountain. The script is very simple with nine Station Masters setting the different scenes and there are all the usual suspects you would find in a traditional Nativity Story. The songs are catchy, easy to learn and humorous where appropriate including opportunities for solo singing but there are plenty of choruses for the whole cast to join in with and perform actions to as well. The parents and staff at St Joseph's School in Hertford and Sacred Heart in Ware thoroughly enjoyed this show and I hope you will too.
A charming Easter Song about lambs playing in a field. It takes the form of a counting song starting with five lambs playing but gradually their numbers dwindle so an excellent addition to your maths spring sessions...your children will also love acting the lyrics out and pretending to be the lambs in the song. There is plenty of scope for musical accompaniment and actions within the song too. Hope these leaping lambs bring lots of spring fun.
A delightful Spring song where the simple melody of the verse invokes skipping through a Spring Meadow. The chorus on the other hand will provide hours of fun as the children follow the dance steps in the lyrics. The possibilities for extended activities inspired by this song both musical and non musical are endless. Hope it inspires you and you have a lot of fun!
A fun Easter/Spring song where the lyrics tell of painting eggs then rolling them down a hill and having an Easter Egg treasure hunt in the garden but then reveal that our favourite traditional Easter treat are chocolate eggs wrapped in foil! The chorus also discusses other seasonal signs of spring. Why not create a dance to accompany the chorus to practise the children's rhythmic skills and use instruments to accompany the verse. Whatever you do I hope you enjoy this song and it kick starts some other Spring activities.
This simple Easter and Spring song will delight children especially especially if you let them hop around the room in time to the music and use real Easter Eggs as visual aids. You could even incorporate an Egg Hunt in the Song and increase the numbers of eggs included.
A fun counting song which would make a great addition to a Spring or Easter Topic. The song tells of Mrs Chicken sitting on her eggs and almost being surprised as each chick comes along. You could use this in your maths sessions too and children will love performing the actions contained within the lyrics.
A great addition to your 'Winter' Primary School Music Resources. The song touches on some of the different weather types experienced in winter and how to get rid of the winter blues by jumping and clapping and could be the prelude to a whole host of activities musical and otherwise. Have fun with this simple little song.
A pretty song in 3/4 time about two great winter treats for lucky children. Pop up Ice Rinks mean that many more children these days can experience the thrills of ice skating and of course a nice warm Hot Chocolate Drink afterwards. The adjectives in the chorus will provide fun for the children as they try to emulate the sound of the words and the flow of the music lends itself to perhaps creating a class dance and original pieces of music depicting skating in 3/4 time. A sweet song about an evaporating snowman introducing a touch of science into the proceedings! Children will love the humour in the song as the snowman's eyes pop out and his ears disappear but hopefully the children will not get too sad as the last line of the song says 'But we will build another snow mate next cold and snowy day!' Why not create compositions inspired by this exploring diminuendo? Working in groups each child could play their instruments altogether then gradually drop out to paint a musical picture of the snowman disappearing as their music gets quieter and quieter. The possibilities for other activities inspired by this song are endless making it a good addition to your Primary School School Music Resources.
A humorous song which we can all relate to having been so wrapped up in winter woollies as children that we could hardly move by the time we got outside to play in the snow. The lyrics of the song tell of all the various layers of clothing children have to endure ending with 'our warmest pair of trews' (a Scottish term for trousers)before getting so hot that hats and gloves are soon discarded 'but please don't tell our Mum's Shh!' Why not create a musical composition using the layers of clothing as ways to build up layers of sound? Another great addition to a topic on 'Winter.'
A sweet song inspired by the joy my grandson has watching the birds out of the window on the feeders during winter and one of my favourite songs of all times 'Feed the Birds' from Mary Poppins. I hope you and your children enjoy this song which could be a prelude to many other activities musical and otherwise whilst you explore 'Winter' as a topic. There's plenty of opportunity for actions and movement in the chorus too.

Additional activities could include learning about and categorizing the animals using musical instruments or simply choosing suitable rhythmic patterns to accompany the melody. A song inspired by my Grandson Harry and his love for his toy giraffe. The song has a lazy swing and relays how having extremely long legs does not make running and walking easy. As I researched this song I found out that when giraffes walk, they move both legs on one side of their body and then both legs on the other side and when they run unlike dogs for example their back legs go outside of their front legs. All fascinating stuff which led to the lyrics in the chorus. Actions would enhance this song greatly and why not get the children to get down on all fours and emulate the walking and running movements of a giraffe themselves. They will love it. Hope you and your children have lots of fun with this simple little song.
Set in a minor key this slightly scary song conjures up images of tigers prowling swamps and jungles ready to pounce on their prey. The children will love creeping to the music of the verse then the more up beat chorus is about visiting tigers in the zoo where the children are completely safe. Create actions and get the children to compose or improvise accompaniments to the song and you could have a show stopper on your hands. Enjoy!
From the first song and the lyrics ‘Once a year at the end of term, the teachers are in a flap’ humour pervades this nativity whilst not detracting from the importance of the Christmas Message. There are many opportunities for solo singing and group dancing but there is also plenty to keep the children not on stage occupied singing choruses and performing actions in every song. The children loved the songs and easily learnt the script ensuring the show was a ‘Hit’ at every performance.
