This is the sixth lesson in a series created for the A Level unit Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany. It investigates far right ideology and its manifestations during the Weimar period with a focus on the Munich Putsch and the reasons for its failure and long-term significance. It also introduces students to the decline of support for democracy and the weakness of coalition governments. Students are required to start working on A level essay writing skills. Ideally this lesson should be taught in conjunction with the Access to History, Democracies and Dictatorships in Germany, but other text books could be used to support it.
