Values and vision

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys aims to teach students to care for the needs of others, to tolerate other people’s opinions, and to have good manners and respect when speaking to others.

School assemblies are broadly Christian and moral based. They offer pupils the opportunity to reflect upon either issues of the day or issues of a more enduring nature. All subjects are also intended to offer pupils opportunities to reflect upon moral, social and spiritual issues. In PSE/Citizenship lessons teachers introduce pupils to the moral and social foundations of issues such as human sexuality, drugs in society, the UK political system and the world of economics and business.

The school also aims to enrich its pupils in ways that go beyond its curriculum. For instance, every year it offers trips near and far for the purpose benefiting, among other things, the cultural and scientific understanding of pupils. It holds an annual Spring term ski trip, which has been held, amongst other destinations, in Italy, France and America. It also holds a biennial ‘World Challenge’ expedition, with recent destinations including South Africa, Ecuador and Argentina.
