About Ark Boulton Academy
Ark Boulton Academy is a six-form entry secondary school in Sparkbrook, Birmingham.
Our vision for Ark Boulton Academy is simple: together we give each of our students the skills, personal qualities and qualifications they need to be successful at university and in the career of their choice; together we make them role models for future generations, helping them to fulfil their potential and raise aspirations; and that together we support our students to develop a lifelong love of learning, a sense of personal and civic pride and the confidence to not just navigate the modern world, but to shape it.
Our approach is summed up in the African proverb: “It takes a whole community to bring up a child”.
At Ark Boulton Academy we work together to ensure that each of our children can overcome barriers to learning, catch up where needed and achieve at the highest levels by working harder, behaving better and making faster progress than children in other schools.
We're also proud to offer a great environment for staff, where we help every member of staff to be their best through a supportive environment and excellent professional development.
We have a broad, academic curriculum, emphasising the importance of intellectual study and focusing on traditional learning. We believe that this is the best way to equip our students for university, and/or the professions and careers they eventually choose. In an ever-competitive global community we have provided an academic curriculum that gives our students the best possible chance to succeed whilst ensuring that they have the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and express themselves through expressive arts. The three main elements in the curriculum to address pupils’ are academic, personal and social development.
During the Autumn Term 2016, the academy had it's fourth Ofsted monitoring visit. We are delighted to let you know that inspectors continue to be pleased with the progress that we are making and concluded that, “Leaders and managers are taking effective action towards the removal of special measures”, which is the best result that a school can achieve following a monitoring inspection.
“This is a supportive school with strong team ethics for departments to work closely together. I appreciate that there is a good push to build the character of students alongside their academics. It is a great place for those early in their career due to the immersive style of training. In my 6 years of teaching, this school has progressed my teaching more than any other school – it has made me a better teacher.”- Sam, Maths teacher, Ark Boulton
“The school is purposeful and well-led. The ethos is spectacular, and the curriculum is well designed and organised. We have created a warm and welcoming environment in the science department, with a strong focus on curriculum deep dive. I believe all new teachers need nurturing in order to develop their passion and love for the career, and as head of department I work hard to ensure this is provided consistently.”- Manvir, Director of Science, Ark Boulton
