About Ballard School
Ballard School is a non-selective, co-educational school for children aged 18 months-16, set on a 32-acre site on the edge of the New Forest National Park in New Milton, Hampshire. The school, which is an amalgamation of several schools, the earliest of which was founded in 1895, is run in four departments: early years and pre-prep, lower prep, upper prep and senior school.
Ballard School is a vibrant place offering bespoke education to local children in a safe and caring environment which means everyone gets an opportunity to discover and nurture their potential.
Values and vision
Ballard School, which maintains a Christian ethos, aims to stretch and challenge its pupils in all direction with an holistic approach which encourages them to be fully involved in extra-curricular activities, sport, performing arts and outdoor pursuits. The school is committed to academic excellence but believes pupils are entitled to an education that extends beyond the academic and that by performing beyond their potential in the classroom they can gain a better idea of their future career options.
Pupils are also encouraged to recognise the worth, dignity and contribution of each member of the school community and to foster self-discipline, self-esteem, mutual respect and co-operation.
Ballard School has achieved the Artsmark Gold award for performing and visual arts.
“Pupils are well motivated by the wealth of opportunities they are offered to achieve both within the curriculum and in extra-curricular activities, particularly in the performing arts. Good, and at times excellent, teaching leads to an enjoyment in and commitment to learning and, in consequence, achievement and examination results which are good in relation to pupils’ abilities, indicating that that their progress is often above the average of pupils of similar abilities."
Before you brace yourself, this starts with my son saying "I love Ballard!" This is high praise indeed because being 12 he tends to only voice his love of his cat, the latest PlayStation game and occasionally he shows his enthusiasm for his cricket!- Parent
