About Derby High School
Derby High School is an independent day school educating students between the ages of 3 to 18, in our purpose-built buildings in the leafy suburb of Littleover in Derby. Our Primary School (a member of IAPS) teaches both boys and girls, whilst our Senior School is currently single-sex girls; however, from September 2019, we will be offering places to boys in Years 7 and 12, as we make the exciting move to being fully coeducational throughout the school.
Our aim across the age range is to challenge and stimulate children and encourage them to develop a range of skills, not only in the classroom but beyond it. The school has a strong reputation for excellent academic results, but that is only one aspect of the life of the school. We want children to have ambition, to develop an interest in and knowledge of the world in which they live and to acquire the confidence and skills not only to take their place in society but to be the future leaders of that society in their chosen field.
Derby High School prides itself on its friendliness and visitors to the school invariably comment on the calm and happy atmosphere in the school and the excellent relationships between the children and the staff. One of the great strengths of the school is its broad social and cultural intake, which reflects the community of which it is a part. The school is a Christian foundation in the Anglican tradition, but we accept children of all faiths and indeed none.
