Garden International School (Rayong)
About Garden International School (Rayong)
Garden International School, Rayong, was established in 1994 to serve the educational needs of the children of the growing international community living in and around the area. The school was registered with the Thai Ministry of Education in 1994, with the Department for Education and Skills in 1995, admitted to membership of FOBISSEA (Federation of British International Schools in South and East Asia) in 1997, and to membership of the IBO in 1998. Our first group of students sat for the IGCSE in June 1996 and our first IB Diploma candidates in May 1998, following authorisation as an ‘IB World School’.
We are committed to providing a safe, positive and enjoyable learning environment using a British educational framework that aims for the highest educational standards in life-long learners. We encourage all students to develop to their full potential, and respond to the differing needs of individuals. Our values are qualities of leadership, responsibility, critical thinking, international mindedness and respect.
We now have over 420 students on roll. Students and parents are attracted by the quality education that we offer, our competitive fee structure, and our academic strengths. We constantly exceed UK exam results. Around 30% of the students are full Thai. Another 30% of our student body is half Thai, and these students typically take their Father’s (Western) nationality. The next biggest group is Indian, with about 20% of the student population. Next come the British at 8%. In all, we have around 35 nationalities.
We occupy a campus of nearly 17000 m2, split into three sections, Foundation, Primary and Secondary. The buildings are modern, bright and well equipped. All teaching rooms are air conditioned. We have specialist laboratories for physics, biology and chemistry, three computer suites, two large covered area for all weather sports, a playing field, swimming pool, 2 halls, Design and Technology workshops, and extensive play areas.
The school is now owned by MBf Taylors, a Malaysian based multinational company. Academic matters are overseen by the Principal. We are currently going through the CIS accreditation process and expect to be accredited by the end of the year.
