About Harris Academy Peckham

Harris Academy Peckham is a place where all flourish, all feel valued and where achievement is the key to success. We are thoroughly proud of all our successes to date and look forward to further contributing to the Harris Federation’s excellent track record.

We combine the traditional values of discipline, respect and good manners with contemporary best practice in teaching and technology. With these core values in place, we aim to send out into the world students that are happy and educated with the drive and ambition to be successful.

Our aim is to offer every student the opportunity to develop their potential to the maximum – in their learning, in preparation for the world of work and in their contribution to society.

We are very fortunate to have skilled and dedicated staff who want our students to enjoy their education. They are committed to helping every young person to reach their own personal goals.

We give our students as many opportunities as possible. No matter what their ability, we want them to learn and experience as much as they can during their time at the Academy. We offer a full, broad and balanced curriculum, ensuring students of all academic abilities enjoy learning. Each student is given the individual care and attention they need to thrive and make maximum progress.

Our two specialisms of Performing Arts and Business and Enterprise make the Academy an exciting and vibrant place. Students are given engaging opportunities to learn, participate in activities and experience the world of work within a friendly and safe environment.

Everyone at the Academy is given the chance to find out what they are good at. We have a large and unusual range of out-of-school clubs and activities. Students can, for example, learn a language, play the drums or become a cheerleader.

Working for Harris Federation

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit charity. Led and run by teachers, we established our first school over 25 years ago.

There are now more than 40 happy and highly successful primary and secondary academies in our federation. All of these are in and around London. With each school that has joined us, the expectations we set ourselves have increased.

Every Harris academy so far inspected by Ofsted is rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’, with three quarters of our inspected secondary academies judged ‘outstanding’. Our primary schools are newer, but almost half are ‘outstanding’, with the rest ‘good’.

What people say about us

This is a vibrant and energetic learning environment where everyone is challenged.

- Teacher

This is a good school that is improving rapidly. It has been a breakthrough year for Peckham with exam results as follows: 50% achieved 5A* - C grades including English and Maths. 81% achieved 5A* - C grades 60% of all students got A* - C in English Best ‘A’ Level results – half of our students went to university 60% of all students got Maths A* - C

- Principal

It has managed to increase the percentage of its pupils getting five good passes at GCSE including English and Maths… …from five percent to fifty percent. Indeed, every single one of the schools Lord Harris has taken over gets at least an additional twenty per cent or more young people to pass five good GCSEs compared to the record when the Local Authority ran it. 9th September 2011
