About Horbury Academy
Horbury Academy is a mixed secondary state school that caters for pupils aged 11-16 and is situated on the outskirts of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Since September 2016, it has formed part of the Accord multi-academy trust with Ossett Academy.
In 2016, 69 per cent of Year 11 students at Horbury Academy achieved a grade C or higher in their English and maths GCSEs, but the school prides itself on focusing on more than exam results. It is an inclusive school that automatically makes parents part of its Academy and Parents' Association when pupils join the school.

Values and vision
The Horbury Academy motto is "Flying high but not solo – together we will achieve". The school inspires students to be the best versions of themselves. It vows that all lessons are engaging and purposeful, and calls on its students to demonstrate a thirst for learning and become increasingly independent.
The academy's values are captured by the following personality strengths: ambition, honesty, risk taking, creativity, resilience, collaboration and empathy.
“The academy is well led and you are supported by a capable senior team who plan effectively for pupils’ academic and personal development. Your ambition to improve outcomes for pupils and a determination to ‘fly high and be the best you can’ is a vision that is shared by senior leaders, staff, directors and the vast majority of pupils. You set clear priorities and provide staff with effective professional development and challenge.”
