Introduction to MIC
Founded in 2016 and opened in 2017, MIC is the first secondary school with an international curriculum in Foshan. MIC is located on a peaceful green campus in the Nanhai District of Foshan in Southern China. We are 2 bus stops from the Guangzhou South Railway Station, and from there high-speed trains can take you all over China. Hong Kong is less than 1 hour away by high-speed train.
MIC offers British IGCSE/A-Level, as well as American Advanced Placement, courses following our 4C Ethos: Cheerful, Cooperative, Creative, Challenging. Our mission is to nurture elite students with Chinese Spirit, Global Vision, and International Competitiveness.
By 2019, the 3rd year since its founding, MIC has grown to 350 students and has developed a stellar reputation within Guangdong Province. The school's academic scores at CIE IGCSE/A-Level are consistently above the global average, and 3 students were awarded ‘Top In The World’ rankings for their 2019 examination results by Cambridge Assessment International Education. In 2019 MIC had its first graduating class, and 30% received unconditional offers from the top 10 universities worldwide (according to QS Ranking 2019).
MIC offers International GCSE (IGCSE) and A-Level curricula accredited by CIE, Edexcel, Oxford, and AQA examination boards. Under the UK curricula MIC offers students a wide variety of subjects, allowing them to select subjects according to their interests. Subjects available at MIC include ESL, Chinese, Japanese, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Accounting, Business, History, Geography, Global Perspectives, Art and Design, Music, ICT, and IT.
BC Offshore School Curricula:
Majestic BC International School brings a high school program from British Columbia, Canada, to students at MIC. Upon graduation, students will receive a BC Dogwood Diploma which enables them to gain admission to universities all over the globe. BC Offshore students consistently perform near the top of international school rankings (PISA Rankings). To maintain this high achievement, BC Offshore has transformed its education system to one that better engages students in their own learning, and fosters the skills and competencies students need to succeed in the 21st century. Our BC certified teachers have created a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment where students can develop into strong, responsible global citizens.
Life at MIC is rich, varied, exciting, and challenging. We hope that every student will experience academics, sports, drama, art, music, and personal growth while attending MIC. Therefore, we encourage our students to join, as well as run, various clubs and activities. Here is a partial list of student clubs and activities currently taking place at MIC:
STEAM Education, Electronic Band, Swimming, Badminton, Football, Basketball, Soccer, Model UN, Choir, Orchestra, and Drama.
Advanced students who wish to prepare for various academic competitions and examinations are also encouraged to work together to help each other prepare and do well. Groups have been formed to help prepare for:
Biology, Mathematics, STEP, Physics, and Chemistry.
Grading and Ranking
During each semester there are 2 quarter grades and 1 end of semester examination. Each of these grades is worth one-third of the semester grade. Both semesters have this structure. Each of the 2 semester grades are worth one-half of the overall grade for the academic year. At MIC all grades are reported in letter format. Please note that GPA and student ranking are not issued unless requested by students or college admissions. Upon request, the cumulative GPA is calculated using the overall grade for each subject at the end of each academic year, with each subject equally weighted. The MIC GPA is based on a 4.0 system, with internal assessment and CIE exam results contributing 50% each.
