About Octavia AP Academy
TBAP Octavia AP Academy is a secondary alternative provision (AP) academy situated in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Our academy supports up to 35 learners who have experienced difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school.
We are driven by a fully inclusive philosophy and want to empower our learners to become ‘Great’ so that they can take their place successfully in the wider community. At KS3 our learners follow a curriculum that consists of English, Maths, Science, ICT, PE and Vocational based subjects and are taught in small, well-supported groups. In addition, learners receive extra support for literacy and numeracy. At KS4, learners access a range of GCSE subjects as well as a varied vocational offer which includes: construction, motor vehicles, hair and beauty and animal care.
A cornerstone of our work is to ensure our learners’ education is personalised to meet their individual needs and designed to give them the necessary skills to access the next phase of their life.
To do this, our learners’ are supported by a team of skilled Learning Guides and Learning Support Professionals who work closely with them to minimise barriers to learning both in and out of the classroom. Our academic curriculum is also complemented by an enrichment programme of off-site activities for all learners and on-site therapeutic services.
Our AP Academy fully supports the reintegration of learners back into full time education, further education or employment and works closely with our feeder schools to ensure that this takes place successfully. The Octavia team prides itself on the work that we do with our parents/carers and outside agencies to make sure that our AP Academy is a safe and enjoyable place of learning where our learners are engaged, motivated and encouraged to be the best that they can be.
